Shannon is also an avid reader enjoying many books that feature strong female leads. It comes as no surprise that when she writes that her characters are also strong female leads
Shannon’s books are not long at all as she feels that something should be left up to the reader; no you don’t really need to know that the walls were blue on the fourth floor to enjoy a story! If she has any spare time Shannon enjoys playing things like World of Warcraft, Elder Scroll games, Guild Wars, Rift, and Second Life. My Review of  Athine Versus: The Beginning (The Daughter of Ares Chronicles)

I was able to read this book very quick, though I had a hard time getting into it in the beginning, a little too many characters were explained and felt more like history lessons, but I forced through it (not being able to keep track of so many strange names) and it picked up really well from there.
I can’t say much on such a short story, but it did give us a good start to the series. I am sure only this first book was like this, in the history type lessons, lol. It’s got lots of the greek mythology type stuff in it.

The story is mainly about Athine, who we do not even see until after 20% as its telling of her parents to see how we get to her.
Athine is supposed to save them all.

Harmonia is the prophetess that brought her mother to Olympus as her visions said it was how to save them. But not knowing it would not be her mother, but her, Athine instead, so she had trained her whole life for it, not knowing for what or even when.

Its interesting, and if you like books with the greek mythology, I think you would like this one, and the rest of the series.

I also do not like the cover much, just doesn't fit, and too provocative looking, reminds me of covers of some video games, most of them I am not fond of, but that's just my own opinion.

I give it 4 out of 5 stars, only because I did have a hard time in the beginning, like too much info and people to fast.

My review for this is at Amazon now too, if you like my review, I would love some support at Amazon by marking it as Helpful, Here.

I also have it at Goodreads, please go "like" it if you do, I would appreciate it. Link Here.

I will have other reviews for 2 others in this series up this week. I will update this post as I get them done and post at Goodreads and Amazon too.

  1. Thank you for your review! You are correct that the first one has a lot of names. I am working on a series companion site that would help with that. However, like you have already said, only the first one is like that. I saw that you could not find the book on amazon. I have included the direct link. It may have been down for price maintenance last night. I look forward to your other reviews :)
