The next, she is safe in Cyrus’s arms…and learning she isn’t even human. She is Kindred, blessed with preternatural powers, cursed to suffer the twin horrors of the blood rage and the dark veil.
Their union is the greatest hope for redemption in a thousand years, but not all Kindred want to be saved. A dark secret could snuff out their lives before love has a chance to unite them…and redeem the Kindred for all time. Greater the love…sweeter the pleasure…higher the price that must be paid.

 Kindred of the Fallen Review

For Mature readers only, has some explicit sex scenes.

I actually really loved this book. I was not even sure what to expect when I signed up for this tour, the cover alone drew me in, and got me interested when I designed the tour button, so because of the cover alone, I went and looked it up to see what it was about. I was intrigued right away after reading the blurb.

I will admit, I am still a little lost when it comes to the different Houses and what exactly the Kindred are, but that does not mean I didn’t still enjoy it. It’s just a lot to take in, but I was completely enthralled with this story, I could not put it down, read till 4:30 am one night, and had to make myself stop and finished the next morning, lol. There is a glossary and a sortof family tree and explanations to the Houses in the back of the book, and didn’t know about that until I was finished, I really wish it was at the front, so I would have known, could have jumped to it to understand more as I read.

I get the impression that the Kindred are not exactly angels, but closer to the Greek gods, or a combo in this world. They are an ancient race that has been cursed long, long ago, and the only way to break this curse is for a Blessed (Blessed ones here are a reincarnation of one of the Fallen-the original ancient beings who were cursed, they bear the mark of the Fallen) kabashem (soul mate) couple to have a child. The way I understand this, is that this curse has split the soul of the original ones, so when a Kindred finds their kabashen (soul mate aka other half), they find their perfect mate, Anyway, the kabashen couples when they finally get together will ward off the worst of the curse, which is where they basically go nuts, called sangre saevitas (blood rage) or black veil (severe melancholia with episodes of psychosis) for the psi class of Kindred, it can happen to any at anytime, but if you find your mate, you will be ok from that, even if the soul mates do not stay together, which does happen, because of the conflict between the houses.

So,  Serenity is a Blessed Kindred, who they call advenuati (Kindred who was raised outside of the collective amongst humans) and its said its only happened once, and I assume they mean Serenity.

So without saying too much on what actually happens, lets just say, there is lots to overcome with Serenity and her kabashen (soul mate) and I am glad when she meets him, as her life with longtime friend Evan, was so boring, she was settling, and really was depressed, but there is a reason for that. Her soul was waiting for the other half. Her soul mate comes in a gorgeous package of Cyrus. I really like Cyrus, had to get past some of his old fashioned thinking, but I did. ( he is old, but being Kindred, does not look it of course)

I was taken on an emotional rollercoaster with this story, I was so shocked a few times, one time in particular, and it had me crying, I could not believe what happens, and sure won’t be telling you. I do not want to spoil anything.

This book is very different, and exciting. I think anyone who enjoys the paranormal like me, will truly love this book. I can’t wait for the next. I know there has to be another, there is too much left to do, no way is that the end.
I give this book a huge 5 out of 5 stars, the writing was top notch, and had me hooked almost from the very start.

I was provided a copy of this book from the author for my honest review for the book tour.

 Kindred of the Fallen
EXCERPT
Cyrus stroked Serenitys arm, his heart tight as a fist and throbbing. His pool of energy gushed and swelled inside of him. Exhilarating jolts, unlike anything hed ever felt, set his skin aflame. His nerve endings tingled like bare wires.
Hewatched  her  for the  last  ten  days from a  distance,  waiting  for  the perfect opportunity to meet her. After his reckless disaster earlier in her office, he needed this to go the way hed planned. For more than two hundred years, he had imagined this, when hed finally meet his kabashem, the other half of his soul. If he ever found her, his mission was clear.
Claim her at any cost and put an end to the curse.
My house outside the city offers a spectacular view. It’s the perfect place to appreciate the stars. And I promise youll enjoy a meal youll never forget.”
Was he being too forward? His impulsive, less aggressive tactic at her studio had backfired.
Sweat slicked his palms and his pulse raced. Ten days should have been long enough to prepare. What was wrong with him? Hed never been nervous going into battle, not even the first time he held a sword ready to kill. But having her within reach threw him off kilter worse than taking a fist to the head.
“I cant have dinner with you,” she said in a solemn voice that wavered.
“We both have to eat. Why not do it together?
She raised her left hand with the ring facing him. “I’m engaged.”
“Happily?
Her eyes grew wide for a moment.
You’re used to getting what you want, arent you? Her gaze slipped from his face. “Women probably throw themselves at you all the time, tossing away their morals along with their panties, eager to get into your bed. I hate to disappoint you twice in one day, but I’m not that type of woman.”
He sucked in a breath, smooth and slow. “You’re right, I am used to getting what I want, but you’re wrong about the women. Casual sex is for the undisciplined, and none of the pursuits in my life are casual.” He leaned closer. “I didnt mean to offend you with my invitation. I admire your moral compass. Means youll never get lost.”
She rolled her eyes and snickered.
Time for uncensored honesty. Forgive my forwardness, but I sensed a connection between us and thought you had as well.”
She met his gaze.
The kind of connection one cant deny or ignore,” he continued. “The kind that  happens  once  in  a  lifetime.  The  kind  for  which  rules  are  meant  to  be broken.”
