Evermore by Alyson Noël Review

Evermore (The Immortals, #1)Evermore by Alyson Noel

Since a horrible accident claimed the lives of her family, sixteen-year-old Ever can see auras, hear people’s thoughts, and know a person’s life story by touch. Going out of her way to shield herself from human contact to suppress her abilities has branded her as a freak at her new high school—but everything changes when she meets Damen Auguste . . .

Ever sees Damen and feels an instant recognition. He is gorgeous, exotic and wealthy, and he holds many secrets. Damen is able to make things appear and disappear, he always seems to know what she’s thinking—and he’s the only one who can silence the noise and the random energy in her head. She doesn’t know who he really is—or what he is. Damen equal parts light and darkness, and he belongs to an enchanted new world where no one ever dies. (summary from Amazon and book)

My review

Alyson Noël (Alyson Noel) created a well-detailed story that makes it easy for us to visualize both the characters and the world around them, and boy is that world amazing!

I really enjoyed this book. It was a pleasant surprise, and keep me wondering WHAT Damen was. As I had no idea what the series was really about at the time. It was refreshing to not know. I only knew that he was Immortal, obviously by the title with it being Immortals series.

I really like Ever, it did take me awhile to warm to her, but I did get there. Damen, well, I love him for sure. There are so many surprises in this book, and it leaves you with many questions, so I warn you, it’s best to have the other books on hand and ready to read. If you’re starting these now, after all are out. Then it will be better for you. I had to wait between each one. I am now giving my reviews after finishing the whole series. I like the series as a whole for sure.

I recommend this book and series to anyone who likes the paranormal, and some suspense some magic. Something a little different than what is usually out there.

I do not understand the bad reviews some have given this book. It’s not a knockoff of ANYTHING else out there. I mean, it has the romance in there, that’s the ONLY thing that has a similar feel to it, and what series in YA does not have some romance. SO give it a chance. Be sure to check out Alyson Noël’s new book, called Fated. I will review it when I am done with it as well. (There is even a short story of when the main character in Fated meets Ever here it is, ebook free at Amazon Daire Meets Ever)
