Intro Tuesday, First Chapter, First Paragraph 6/19

First Chapter First Paragraph - Tuesday Intros Hosted by Bibliophile By The Sea

Every Tuesday I will participate in the Tuesday Intro First Chapter-First Paragraph Intros.
These are books we decided to read based on the first paragraph or so.
Then find another “Teaser” in the book somewhere to catch our interest.

My pick is a book I just finished a few days ago. Lucifer Rising (Book 3 in Gothic Memoirs Series)by Rebekah Armusik , This was an amazing book, love this series, (its not scary, just fyi)

Lucifer Rising
Chapter 1 Kindle location 23-39

I had so many regrets that I was fearful to count them. I had no idea how everything ballooned into this fantastic creature that I could no longer control. I was used to being in charge of my emotions, to a degree. But now I was fragmented-a fractured woman left to rot in her own pool of self-created drama. It was a play I’d never intended to participate in. It was utterly dreadful.

Time seemed to have no mercy, to taunt me now that I paid her no mind. She moved to quickly, without an ounce of patience-I could hardly keep up. For an immortal, time was both an enemy and a friend. On most days, I wished her ill. I saw the sun rising in the east. Her orange heat began to spread over the mountain like hot lava. I slowly stood and covered my eyes. Little did I know it would be the only glimpse I would ever have of her majesty again. Never again would I attempt to gaze into her yellow center, eyes squinted and burning from her glare. Though I never thought I would miss her, now I do. Often, it’s not until we lose something that we realize how badly we miss it.

The sobs were still audible, polluting the quietness of the new day coming upon us. I wished I could forget the evening before and hide it somewhere far away with the rest of my tragedy of a life. But I was not to forget-this was what I was born to do. There was some purpose for my life and death, and though I was unsure what it was, exactly, I trusted that I was to right all the wrongs of the world. Unfortunately, my sense of “right” was often skewed.

“Is your father pissed at me?”
“No…shocked that you tossed a glass of scotch at him, but not pissed.” Alexei gave me an amused smile. For some unknown reason, that man adored my wretched, brash behavior. It was almost sad.

I hope you enjoyed my picks of teaser and the intro. I really , really love this series of books. Its written so beautifully. You should check into them.
