Blood and Moonlight by Moira Keith Book Tour ~ #Giveaway + Review and Exccerpt

Blood and Moonlight by Moira Keith Bio and Blurb

My Blood and Moonlight Review

I love this book! I can’t wait for book two, hope it’s not too long. Lol. This book was very different to most the paranormal books I read. It has something I had not read about before.
Blood and Moonlight is the first book in the Moonlight Trilogy by Moira Keith. This story focuses on Kiara, half fae, half werewolf, and its an intriguing mix. There are many exciting twists and turns. Suspense, and many things you just do not see coming.

It was brilliantly written. I liked the way it was written in first person from Kiara’s point of view, but then would go to Devlin (who is super hot by the way) and would be in 3rd person with him. I really liked that. I seen that in another book a few times, and once I was used to it, I really liked it.

Kiara is a really strong person.  I really was able to connect with her, and felt what she felt. Some of the things she had to endure where violent, and she has shown us to be very strong.
There is a lot of Celtic Mythology in this, and I enjoyed that. It’s just not something you see as much of.
Kiara also lives in the modern world, but this world knows of the supernaturals, the Fae, Werewolves, and there is mention of others too, but we do not see any in this story. So it’s interesting in that area too.

I will keep this as spoiler free as I can. We start with Kiara finding out that her werewolf father is possibly still alive, but missing. But she does not accept this right away, she wants proof. This is when she meets the handsome Devlin.
She has 2 Fae guards, Reese, and Keenan. Reese is a great best friend to Kiara too, as is Keenen, he is like an older brother, protective and very capable.

The pack wants Kiara’s help in finding their leader Roarke who they tell her is her father. They believe her special abilities can help them. She has some unique magic of her own, and one of the abilities is to see and feel events that happened when touching the object or area. She is in danger too, as someone wants to stop her from finding the packs leader. Only a handful of people even know he is her father. Devlin is there to protect her along with her fae guards.

I really loved the chemistry between Devlin and Kiara, here is a cute part with them:

When I glanced up, Devlin was smiling at me. Great. Nothing like being caught in the middle of a drool fest.

And here is another part:

"I'm here on orders to ensure your safety.""How much safer can I be if you are right beside me?" The words left my mouth before the thought had even formed in my head. Goddess help me, I was anything but safe around this man. Physically safe, sure—he was an intimidating presence. A person I wouldn't want to run into on a moonless night. Emotional safety was another story entirely. I shook my head. "Sorry, I can’t seem to keep my foot out of my mouth around you."

I will stop there, that’s just how it starts.  We get some major action from there, intense suspense too.

I will stop there, that’s just how it starts.  We get some major action from there, intense suspense too. I was up late to finish this until past 4 am, seems that I keep doing this on great books like this.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys anything paranormal, or even romance if you don’t mind some paranormal. It’s pretty clean sexually, (it has one scene, but is done in a tasteful way) I would say New Adult category, 18 and up or so.

5 out of 5 stars for me.

I was provided a copy of this book as part of a book tour with Bewitching Book Tours for my honest review.

Feature and Friday Follow Hop 11/30

Welcome to the Feature & Follow Hop, Hosted By Parajunkee's and

Feature and Follow Friday is a blog hop, that is designed to provide some much-appreciated exposure to the bloggers participation, and to expand their following. Each of our great host will feature a chosen blog each week, it’s an interesting way to get to know one another.

This weeks question:
Q: Activity! Who is your to-die-for book crush? What do you think they look like? Add an image to make us all happy.

Whew, a hard one, as I have several I really love, so will narrow down to 3 of them, I guess, lol.  So, for one of my longest crushes, is Jace from the Mortal Instruments, and funny thing is, When I started to read the books,(late compared to most, read them back to back) I was also watching Camelot on tv, and Jamie Campbell Bower was one on the show, that i pictured Jace to look like, then my dream became true when he got cast as Jace in the City of Bones movie. He is a perfect Jace.  Goodreads  If you missed the new City of Bones movie trailer, its Here

Here is a pic of him in Camelot that I first got him as my ideal Jace.

For another book crush that I have had for awhile, is Bones from the Night Huntress series, he is super hot!!! Goodreads

Of course , I like so many others absolutly LOVE Daemon from Jennifer L Armentrout's Lux series, so should give him a mention
Goodreads

I had to add one more, I am almost done with a book I started this morning, Mystery Falls by Marilyn Phillips, and Shadow in this book is so hot, and sexy, and I just love him, and to me he would look like Ian Somerhalder from the Vampire Diaries, and usually any blue eyes black hair guy will get his face, lol, but Yah, had to update with him, as I fell in love today, lol.

Available to buy at Smashwords

Ok, will stop there, lol,

Book Tour: Fledge (I am Just Junco #2) Book Review

Welcome to my stop on the Fledge book tour. Brought to you by Innovative Online Tours. Here you can read a synopsis of the book, my review,
I also have a bio of author J.A. Huss. Don’t forget to visit the other blogs on this tour for more information and other reviews about this book and author.

My Review of Book One Clutch is Here.

Blurb:

Junco Coot can’t even remember her trip off Earth; she was too busy being morphed into her new avian body.  But reality hits her hard when she wakes up to find her new life is not what she expected. Not even close. Tier is on trial for disobeying his commander’s kill order and only Junco seems to care.In most places the avian coming-of-age Fledge ritual would be nothing more than mass murder, but here in the capital city of Amelia, it’s called growing up. Junco has no choice; either fight to the death to prove her worth or get sent back to Earth in the hands of her enemies. Her new military team is hostile, her body is being taken over by an illicit artificial intelligence, the avian president wants her dead, and her only friend is a ten-year old throwaway boy.On a foreign habitat, in a foreign culture, and surrounded by people she can’t trust or count on, Junco must find a way to save herself and Tier without losing her immortal soul in the process.

CONTENT WARG-THE I AM JUST JUNCO SERIES IS NOT YOUNG ADULT AND CONTAINS A LOT OF BAD LANGUAGE AND VIOLENCE.

Tier (Go here to read a great character Interview)

BIO:
J. A. Huss never took a creative writing class in her life. Some would say it shows. Others might cut her some slack. She did however, get educated and graduated from Colorado State University with a B.S. in Equine Science. She had grand dreams of getting a Ph.D. but while she loves science, she hated academia and settled for a M.S. in Forensic Toxicology from the University of Florida. She went on to write science curriculum for homeschoolers and now runs a successful home business that creates and offers online science unit studies. When she’s not writing science curriculum or fiction, she works as a farm inspector, traveling the Eastern Plains of Colorado in variety of environmentally friendly vehicles that never have four-wheel drive, so when she gets stuck in the mud in said vehicles, she has to beg for assistance from anyone who will help her. She is not bitter about that at all. She’s always packing heat and she is owned by two donkeys, five dogs, more chickens and ducks than she can count, and of course, the real filthy animals, her kids. The I Am Just Junco series was born after falling in love with the ugliest part of Colorado and the Rural Republic is based on the area of the state she currently resides in, minus the mutants, of course.

My Review:

Wow, Fledge is 100% Emotional turmoil! I am so hooked on this series. I was up until 4 am this time reading this, I just had to finish, had to know what happened. It was such an emotional ride, I had tears in my eyes. Wow, just so good.
Junco is now an avian, which is a winged “alien” and she’s living on a habitat out in the Band –somewhere off earth, I am not sure much on this, its not really explained.  Junco in her new avian body meets Lucan, her new commander. Lucan has decided that Junco is now his soldier. But in order for her to stay, she has to prove herself worthy.

She ends up in Fledge, Each cluster has its own fledge- clusters are of different professions, one for Politics, one for Psychology, one for war, etc. Not all children make it out of their Clutch, (clutch is like a breeding place for each cluster) The  Fledge Junco finds herself in, is the fight to the death matches. 7 of them. Not all fledges are about death matches, some are worse than you can even think up. This death fight matches did reminded me a bit of the Hunger Games, but only in part, its much more violent, and emotional.

I have only one negative, and that is the cussing is just too much, the word that stars with a F and sounds a lot like luck is used way too much, just makes me cringe every time I read that, and it’s in there A LOT, (317 times that word is used in one form or another, way too much!) like every other paragraph is that word. And it’s unnecessary. It’s really the only thing that makes this book (series) unsuitable for teens, otherwise, there is just the war type violence, but no sex at all, skips right over anything at all that happens. Which is fine, as I am not one to want to read erotic type stuff, I do not need that. In a way, the cussing in excess cheapens the story. But this is just my opinion, and I like the story so much, that I will look past it. I really have found myself connecting with Junco, I finally have her figured out, some, lol. I love the connection her and Tier have, and really root for her in trying to save his life, even though it looks really grim that she will be able to accomplish this.

For most this book, we do not have anything of Tier, which was a pity, as he is on trial for treason, for not killing Junco. He did get her off Earth and to morph. (if you don’t know what I mean, then you had not read book one did you?lol) He is sentenced to death, and of course Junco is not ready to accept this.

We find many surprises about Junco’s genetic makup, and what is found it pretty cool. I won’t say what, as you can find out yourself.

I liked the introduction of the new characters, and really loved the protective love the whole Aves 039 team has for Junco, especially Asher. He did come off as a bit of a jerk at first though, but that was more because he didn’t have the whole story on what got Tier in trouble, and he blamed Junco, it changes pretty quickly.  I was not sure of Lucan, still am not, he did grow on me, some. We will see on him. Kush was such a sweetheart.

I thought this little part was funny, its Lucan and Junco in this part:

"I thought you wanted to yell at me for killing people?""It happened as you say, so it is excused this time.""Then why come all the way over here in the middle of the night?""I am checking to see if you're OK, Junco. Is that so unusual? I would have called Ashur, but…"I wait. "But?""I was in the neighborhood."I laugh. "Oh, right."He takes a seat on the bench next to me, his head eases into his hands and he pushes against his temples. I know the look, it means I'm giving someone a headache. Tier used it frequently.

I was appalled at the Fights they have to go through, of course its pretty easy for the most part for Junco, but man, so much killing. She ends up ‘collecting’ some other kids and protects them. But one is young and weak, and was so heartbroken for Junco for what she had to do. Ahhh, I still am reeling emotionally from this book. I had to make myself not pick up Flight, the 3rd book yet. I had to get over this turmoil first.
I honestly can’t believe I love a book that has so much death in it, but the connection I felt with Junco and the others is rooted so deep, I can’t help but care at what happens.

Can’t help but love Junco’s funny, yet severe attitude, this is a cute part, with a Avian that she doesn’t know:

"This went better than expected.""Really?" I say calmly. "You thought I'd, what? Kill you with my SEAR because you want to ask me questions?"He sniffs and straightens his back. "Junco, you have an unprecedented wild side. We cannot be too careful.""Huh." I stare at his blue eyes. "Well, good luck if Moju comes back. If you think I'm wild, I can't wait to see how you treat my brother."

I just will say, this book is amazing, even more exciting than the first book. I have a feeling it’s just going to get even more intense with the 3rd. I won’t say much more. I need to leave the surprises for you and the intense suspense too.
If you read Clutch, the first book, You need to get to reading this one. If you had NOT read Clutch, well, what are you waiting for, go get it, then read this!

Warning, INESNSE over use of bad language, Junco needs a good soapy mouth washing, lol, and a few others too. Plenty of killing, war type violence. This series is not for the weak or faint of heart. No sexual interactions to worry about. But this is still for mature readers only.

5 out of 5 stars for me.

Reading Blood and Moonlight, and Loving it.

Teaser #1 (She is a half fae, half werewolf, he is all werewolf)

"When you touch me, there’s this—I don’t know how to explain it. It sounds kind of dumb when I think about it.""Surge of power that shoots through you, like electricity?" he asked. I nodded. He rested his head against mine. "Your magic is unique. Since this is a first for me as well, I am not sure I can explain it, though I believe it is a simple case of one soul finding its opposite half. ""One soul completing the other? You really believe that?"

Teaser #2

The car bumped them and Devlin sped up. It did little good as the car kept pace and sped right up alongside them. When the passenger window came down, he caught a glimpse of a gun barrel."Get down!" He yelled at Kiara as he pressed the gas pedal to the floor. The glass from the back window shattered and the woman he was sworn to protect sat up in her seat."What the hell?""I said get down!""Forget it. I don’t sit on the sidelines." She grabbed her gun from under the seat where she’d stashed it and checked the clip. Then she picked up his firearm. The car beside them had regained its position and continued to match them in speed.

I Love Kasonndra's work, she is amazing, fell in love with her book The Lost Immortals :When Copper Suns Fall, and Now this one. This is told from a guys POV, which is a nice change. Let me know what you think.

Chapter One
That’s it.
I’m putting a for-sale sign on my parents. Ok wait. Perhaps I overreacted. The situation wasn't as miserable as I made it sound. I guess it could be worse.
Last night my parents told me that we were moving to a place in the Blue Ridge Mountains next year. Great, right? Wrong! I mean, what were they thinking? Did they seriously expect me to just pick up and leave during my senior year? Yeah, I know. Freaking nuts!
The unstable weather here along the New Bern coastline finally got to them. I figured if I send them to a hypnotist or something like that, then he can make them change their minds. All right, that probably sounded extreme. But a boy’s lifeline consisted of his friends, his posse, and the list of phone numbers programmed into his Droid. No, I wasn’t only talking about the ones I collected from my old girlfriends that I kept stashed away.

Teaser:
Her voice was smooth like a forgotten song,  a hypnotic one. I could listen to it all day long. But even a super sexy voice didn’t change the fact that she pretty much read my mind. “Have you decided whether you’ll run or not yet? I have an awful lot of things to take care of.”She turned her head the slightest bit to the side. My underarms prickled. I was glad that Mom forced me to start using the clinical strength deodorant this morning; to say I was nervous wasn’t  even close to how I felt. “Are you an angel?” I asked, my voice squeaking on the last word.
