Review: Whispers At Moonrise by C.C. Hunter - Read an Excerpt too.

Title:Whispers at Moonrise
Author:C.C. Hunter
Series: Shadow Falls (Book 4)
Publisher: St. Martin's Griffin
Publication Date:October 2, 2012

Whew, this book took me on a heck of a ride, emotionally. I loved it more than I can even say.
I am a huge fan of the Shadow Falls series, and had waited too long to read this, (Ok I did the Audible audio book thing with my Kindle purchase) and if it wasn't for being able to listen to it on Audible, I would still be waiting. As I would be able to listen while doing housework, or other tasks that I could not do while reading, lol. I have so many tour books to read, I have to read them every-time I can actually read. Anyway, so happy I was able to do this.

Fans of Shadow Falls will love this book, its funny how the series gets better and better, if that's even possible.
I do not want to spoil anything, so will keep this short.

I will say, I was disappointed to not get more of Derek, as he is my favorite guy by far, and I always thought he should be the one Kylie to be with, but after what Lucas does to Kylie, I really believe it even more. He is a JERK. Will not say more, if you read it, you will know why. If not, better get too it. lol.

I loved how Kylie got to discover more on her powers and what it means to be what she is. I wont mention that either, as I worry someone will read this who had not read the last book at least, that spilled the big answer to what kind of supernatural Kylie is.

Its a journey for sure, and will keep you enthralled from the start. I know it did me.

5 out of 5 stars for me. LOVED it.

Did you like my review? Did it help you at all? If so, would you mind "Likeing" it at Amazon for me? Here is Link

Summary for Whispers at Moonrise Below.

Shadow Falls Camp is back in session with the most explosive installment yet. A shocking new threat will rock Shadow Falls—changing it forever and altering Kylie’s journey in ways she never imagined.

Even at a camp for supernatural teens, Kylie Galen has never been normal. Not only can she see ghosts, but she doesn’t seem to belong to any one species—she exhibits traits from them all. As Kylie struggles to unlock the secrets of her identity, she begins to worry that Lucas will never be able to accept her for what she is, and what she isn’t…a werewolf. With his pack standing in their way, Kylie finds herself turning more and more to Derek, the only person in her life who’s willing to accept the impossible.

As if life isn’t hard enough, she starts getting visits from the ghost of Holiday, her closest confidante. Trouble is, Holiday isn’t dead…not yet anyway. Now Kylie must race to save one of her own from an unseen danger before it’s too late—all while trying to stop her relationship with Lucas from slipping away forever. In a world of constant confusion, there’s only one thing Kylie knows for sure. Change is inevitable and all things must come to an end…maybe even her time at Shadow Falls.

Awake At Dawn (Shadow Falls 2) By C.C. Hunter Review

Awake at Dawn (Shadow Falls, #2)Awake at Dawn by C.C. Hunter
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So we are now back at Shadow Falls in this 2nd installment of the Shadow Falls Series, by C.C. Hunter

Kylie still has no clue to who she is, or what she will become, other than excepting that she has this Ghost whispering gift. She is still very confused and desperate to find out what she is. Now that Lucas is gone for awhile, she has drawn even closer to Derek, who has never hid his feelings for her. But can she trust HER feelings? She is reluctant to commit herself to Derek, because Lucas is still on her mind.

Derek grew a lot in this book, made me love him even more…. He is super hot, sweet and sexy. I remember C.C. mentioning that people who are a Team Lucas may change their minds after reading Awake at Dawn… and she was right.

Although, I have always been a Derek fan, but Lucas is hot too. But in my mind, I take Faerie over werewolf every time, and in this book, he really tugs at your heart.

There are other romances in this book too, Miranda and her crush on Perry, the powerful shape shifter and there is Holiday and the camp leader and that sexy Vampire….

I really love the relationship Kylie has with the camp leader Holiday, like having an older sister, someone she can connect with. I am glad she has that.

The unusual friendship between Della, Miranda and Kylie is beautiful. The girls fight and piss each other off every so often but in the end they love each other and are truly loyal. Kylie grows and comes slowly to terms with being supernatural and not “normal” anymore. Still, deep down she’s lonely since she still is no step further about discovering her true self. She does not fit into any “group” so feels left out most the time. But in Awake at Dawn we will see Kylie grow even more exceptional than she already is and there are a few twists and turns you might not expect that were truly intriguing.

Overall, Awake at Dawn was full of growing relationships, friendships, with some love and romance. Going on this journey with Kylie and her friends to discover her true self was wonderful, and I loved every minute of it. This series has become one of my favorites, and will keep a place in my heart; I have come to care for the characters deeply. Wish I could move to Shadow Falls!

If you have not read Born at Midnight first, be sure to pick it up, as its the first in the Shadow Falls Series. Also a short story called Turned at Dark

Born At Midnight by C.C. Hunter-Review

Born at Midnight (Shadow Falls, #1)Born at Midnight by C.C. Hunter
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Born at Midnight by C.C. Hunter

I really love this series, Born at Midnight starts with a parents’ divorce, mother not understanding Kylie, and getting shipped off to a camp for misfits, shadow falls, or so that’s what she thought. Many surprises for Kylie in this book. Finding out she is a supernatural, or so they think, as they do not know what kind of supernatural. She has a stalker that no one but her sees. She is confused much of the time. But she will find answers to some of her questions at Shadow Falls. All is not what it seems.

Over all I could barely put this book down. It is suspenseful, unusual, and keeps you wondering. Kylie is a dynamic character who is so much more than she sees in herself. The interaction between the different characters was one that most books in this genre do not have. While the book is filled with a great amount of teen angst, it is still a great story of friendship, teen lust and love, and family.
A great series, I highly recommend this series. You will love it.

Taken At Dusk by C.C. Hunter : Review

Taken at Dusk (Shadow Falls, #3)Taken at Dusk by C.C. Hunter
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Taken at Dusk, by C.C. Hunter:

This 3rd book of the Shadow Falls series was one of my favorites. It had me reading late into the night.
If you have not read the first 2 books, you may want to stop reading, as this could be somewhat of a spoiler for you.

Kylie is a caring, selfless person who just wants to understand who and what she is. She’s a teenager with flaws of course too and she can’t help but fall for the sexy hot guys who happen to always follow her. While some girls would just do what they want and think later, Kylie doesn’t want to be the one to break anyone’s heart or hurt those she cares about. She seeks the truth in everything she does.

Kylie finally knows she is supernatural, yet not what species of supernatural. She lives at Shadow Falls camp where her roommates consist of a vampire and a witch. It can make for some interesting arguments to say the least. Kylie is slowly picking up supernatural gifts like her ghost whispering that most do not find appealing, but Kylie is getting the hang of it. She also has other gifts that come and go without control, superhearing, running fast, crushing walls to save those she cares about. You know the everyday stuff a teenage girl does…

To top it all off, Kylie isn’t just trying to understand her life and who she is but someone else is trying to kill her because of it. Between the supernatural, the mystery of her species, the question of who she wants or should take a chance on with her heart, and the danger, this book is impossible to put down. AND we finally find out WHAT type of a supernatural Kylie is!!! I wont be telling you!!
I am so excited that the next book is out October 2012!!! Hardly any wait at all. Love that!

Get ready and start reading if you haven’t tried this series yet. It’s well worth it!

I highly recommend this series, it wont bore you. The writing style is great too.

Turned at Dark by C.C. Hunter Free Short story REVIEW

Turned at Dark (Shadow Falls, #0.5)Turned at Dark by C.C. Hunter
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

In Born at Midnight we meet Della Tsang, Kylie Galen's vampire roommate at Shadow Falls camp. But Della wasn't always a vampire. This is her story.

Turned at Dark is a quick, fun and at times humorous short story about how Della became a vampire and how she ended up at Shadow Falls. It is a prequel to the full length book, Born at Midnight

This is a great way to introduce this new series, to get a feel for the author's writing style and meet one of the more interesting characters from Born at Midnight. And it will give readers the opportunity to learn a little more about Della and why she acts as she does.

This book can be read without having read Born at Midnight, but I'm glad I read it afterward. I already liked Della - she is one of my favorite characters - and was therefore much more interested in hearing about her transformation than I might have been had I not previously been introduced.

It’s a short story, 45 pages, and you can get the ebook free at Amazon.

The Turned at Dark eBook includes a sneak peek of Born at Midnight as well.
I really love this series, and this prequel just gives me more insight into one of the characters that I love.

Note: Born at Midnight is an amazing book (5 stars)! Definitely a must read if you love this short story and worth a peek even if you only just like it! C.C. Hunter does a great job writing these books, you care what happens to these characters. I highly recommend all in the Shadow Falls series.
