Winged
By LM Pruitt
Release Date February 5
Book Two Uprising Coming in April
I fell from the Talmadge Bridge the week before I turned thirty. I was given a choice: Go to Heaven. Go back to my life in Savannah. Or spend eternity fighting evil under the direction of the archangels. I chose the demons--and the angels. I chose the Winged.
About the Author:
L.M. Pruitt has been reading and writing for as long as she can remember. A native of Florida with a love of New Orleans, she has the uncanny ability to find humor in most things and would probably kill a plastic plant. She knows this because she's killed bamboo. Twice. As a result, she's not allowed to walk in the gardening department of any store without supervision. She's also not allowed in the card aisle of any grocery store without an escort since she'll spend thirty minutes opening cards and laughing for no good reason. She is the author of the best-selling Jude Magdalyn series, the Moon Rising series, and the Frankie Post series. She continues to make her home in Florida in spite of the heat and mosquitos and shares her home with two cats--one of them smart, the other not so much.

--Joanne, why don’t you tell us a bit about yourself before joining the Winged.
There’s not a lot to tell, really. I lived a fairly simple, uncomplicated life. I’d been seeing the same man for almost a decade and he’d finally decided it was time to get married—mainly because both our social positions dictated it and he was planning his political future. My family was excited for the same reasons, although excited might be too strong a word. I had my friends, my volunteer work, everything I could possibly hope to want.
--And?
I didn’t realize how much I hated all of it until I had another choice. I know that makes me sound somewhat whiny and ungrateful and I know that, in theory anyway, I did have other choices. I was just too scared to take them. In the end, though, living the life I did was for the best.
--Why is that?
Because I don’t think I would have made the choice I did—to risk my life and die—if I hadn’t been so unhappy. I don’t want to give people the impression I was suicidal, because I wasn’t. I didn’t want to die. But if I’d been happy with my life and choices, I don’t know if I would have had the mental and emotionally strength to risk everything for someone I didn’t know.
--I don’t think you’re giving yourself enough credit there, but we’ll agree to disagree. Moving on, what would you say has been the hardest part of your training?
Besides the people? (laughter) I’d say almost everything. I never realized how horrible my hand-eye coordination was until I started using it all the time. Everybody assures me that it’ll get stronger with continued use but I think they’re lying. (more laughter) But in all seriousness, I think training is supposed to be hard, it’s supposed to be difficult. If it was easy, we wouldn’t be as prepared as we are to do our job.
--Fighting demons.
Exactly. It’s funny, because sometimes the demon you’re assigned to hunt, the one who’s physical description will send literal chills down your spine, is someone you can sit down and ask to leave and they just nod and leave. And then you’ll come across a demon who seems very tame and they are the absolute devil to kill—pun intended.
--I can see your partners getting restless in the waiting room, but before I let you go, I’d like to get some quick answers from you about some things—something I like to call “I’d rather”. Ready?
Fire away.

--Last one—Paraphrasing a literary great, would you rather love and lose or never love at all?
Never love at all.
--Interesting. Would you like to explain that really quick?
For me, it’s simple. If you’ve never had something, you can’t really miss it. You can long for it, but really you’re longing for the ideal more than the actual thing. If you’ve had it, even for a moment, and then you lose it—you’ll spend the rest of your life searching for it. I can’t imagine anything closer to a never-ending hell than that.
--Well, thanks so much for stopping by between demon hunts. I’ll let you get back to work now.
Thanks for not caring too much about the blood on my shoes.
My Winged Review
**Warning, this is an adult book, Not YA. Explicit sex scenes, they are done tastefully, but for mature readers only.**
I really liked this book. I was not sure what to expect at first. It did start of a little slow, Joanne’s life before she died was so boring, which was what we were supposed to see. I would have looked for some way to get some change too.
It doesn’t last long, the boring life part. She gets to choose to either go back to that boring life, move on, or joined the angels in the Winged to fight demons. She of course chooses Winged, and the excitement, which I do not blame her, for sure not wanting to go back to that boring life.
I found the Archangels very interesting, and different than I would have thought. I loved it though. The whole world created for this is awesome. The author did a great job, and I felt like I was there myself.
I do not want to give too much away. I will say, there are some really steamy scenes, and for those who like the steam, you will be satisfied.
I was happy with the choices she made, especially with a certain Archangel, won’t mention who, will leave that surprise for you.
I really liked Raphael, he is great, and in my head I pictured long haired Chris Hemsworh, as the description was exactly like him, with them bright blue eyes, blond/golden hair, big with a body to die for. Michael I found to be a brute, didn’t care too much for his personality, sounded hot though. I loved Gabriel and Lucy’s relationship, it was very sweet. Gideon was so sweet and found him entertaining.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys steamy paranormal books.
I give 5 out of 5 stars and really look forward to the 2nd book.
I was given a copy of this book for my honest opinion.
