Guest Post by Kimberly Kinrade Author of Forbidden Trilogy

My Forbidden Life Review

Ok, I really didn't think that this series could get better, as its so darn good anyway, but it did, it got even better. For those who are not yet familiar with this series (where have you been? Hiding under a rock? Lol) This series is a lot like X-Men/Dark Angel, with some Alphas (scifi channel show I love) , then throw in a little of Covert Affairs (spy show I watch) and you have the Forbidden Trilogy! We have some new hotness in this one too, named Hunter Riley! Boy is he hot and all made, whew, see the postcard I posted.

In this book, its about Sam, Drake, Luke, and Lucy, now with Hunter, and the IPI agents who are helping them free the other Para-powers kids (paranormal abilities, think X-men) then of course the arrival if Ana, Sam and Drakes baby. (she is still a virgin, the horrible Rent-A-Kids foundation impregnated her , as they want her baby for the powers it will have, they figured Drake and Sam’s powers combined would be unstoppable.)

This one has some excitement all over the place, we have poor Luke and Lucy, playing Survivor on a isolated island, that has weird stuff going on (think Lost, lol) but with some weird creatures and other strange happenings. Lucky for them, the other IPI agents had set up camp there, so they get hooked up with them, and this is where Hunter comes on the scene, and Lucy and Hunter hit it off. (I won’t get into details, but Luke and Lucy were on a mission to save the youngest para-kids, and the plane crashed, they jumped out) But I want to leave this as spoiler free as I can, let’s just say, some major Mission Impossible stuff goes on, none stop action and suspense. It will keep you on the edge of your seat and up to the wee hours of the morning to finish reading it!  Hunger Games fans will love this, as well any anyone who likes the paranormal and scifi type books, heck, even romance, as there is more of it in this one.

Here is a funny part with Luke and Lucy:

Did you know that apes share a very similar genetic makeup to humans, and that if humans ate more like apes, they'd be much healthier? Well, apes eat a lot of green leafy vegetables, but guess where they get their protein?"Luke shrugged."You're not going to guess? Fine. I'll tell you anyway. They get it from bugs found in their greens. Bugs like this one. I'm not saying we should start serving it for dinner at home, but for now, when we're so depleted from using our powers, being attacked, jumping from a plane, swimming through an ocean and passing out on a deserted island, yeah, I think we need to get some protein in us however we can. And since you are apparently too chewy, it's Bug Brunch time."

Here is another part, on the island, with Hunter the hunk, and Lucy, that had me cracking up!

"Would you like to hold my sword?" He asked the question with a gleam in his eyes.Lucy burst out laughing. At least she didn't giggle again. "You did not just say that. But, um, yeah, I'd like to hold your sword, Agent Riley."Hunter grinned and unzipped his backpack, pulling out something surprisingly small. He held it out to her, and noticed the disappointed look on her face. "Expecting something bigger?"She smirked at his continued play on words. She had a lifetime of training in verbal and physical sparring; he was no match for her. "They say size doesn't matter, but I disagree."Hunter, who apparently hadn't expected her response, choked on his own comeback and unsheathed the sword, then placed it in her hand. "You have to stroke it a certain way to make it bigger."

Drake is off on his own, spiraling down in self-loathing. He has hit bottom, but he may have found a way to get his powers back, but what will it cost him? I am not telling!
Ana is in danger, Sam will do anything to protect her, and they find out that Ana is the key to everything.

This is a must read trilogy, this final installment left me satisfied, but exited too. Didn’t get enough of Hunter, but still loved it.

Joining the IPI with me, be a part of it. Details at Kimberly’s website and FB page.

5 out of 5 stars for me.  Loved it!!

Sleeping Gods by Kristen R. Campbell is one of the books I am reading (reading a few, lol) Goodreads

Teaser #1
“Lexi, you have a visitor.”Huh? I come down the stairs to see who it is. Whoever it is has moved into the living room so I can’t see them as I descend the stairs.I walk into the living room to find only my mom, who is wearing a goofy smile on her face. “Well? Who’s here?” I ask her just as hands come up from behind me to cover my eyes.I hear a familiar voice, “Guess who?”

Teaser #2
“It’s just funny. How common this is. It seems surreal.”“How so?” I take the glass he offers to me.We sit down on the bench that wraps around the porch. “I’ve never been to a prom or had lemonade on a back porch, especially waiting to take prom pictures. I never grew up; just was,” he whispers the last part, afraid to be overheard.“Does it bother you, because I’m a little embarrassed by it?”He shakes his head. “I like it. I do feel a little embarrassed being the oldest guy here,” he chuckles. “But I’m happy to be experiencing something new.”

Her Game, His Rules is another I am reading, this one for book tour. So far, pretty good. Goodreads

Teaser #1
He was so infuriating, and I was absolutely notcharmed…okay, maybe just a little…Out of the corner of my eye I caught Julian arch a brow. “What’s that supposed to mean?” By his voice I could tell he was smiling.“Well, you weren't the most charming person in the world when we first met. With all the bantering and such, no wonder you don’t have a girlfriend.”“Who says I don’t have a girlfriend?”

Teaser #2
With my hands pressed to my cheeks, I retreated into the room. The earsplitting screams continued to bounce off the walls.Flap. Flap. A rumbling behind me. And then a pair of strong arms pulled me into a protective hold.Julian must have come in through the french doors. He held me like he feared for my life. In his embrace, I turned to bury my face in his shoulder.

Final Redemption (The Chosen book 3) Final book.

Chapter 1
The breeze ruffled her wings, shifting them slightly.  Tears rained down her cheeks as she watched, from the safety of the unseen state, a group of tourists walk around beneath her.  From her vantage point atop of one of the giant stones of Stonehenge, she could see for miles.  The green hills rolled gently in the distance as thick white clouds floated lazily in an azure sky.  The tourists snapped pictures of this and that; some clicked pictures of their friends posing in front of the monument, while others laughed and joked.  The sounds of their laughter only added to Erin’s misery.
Two weeks had passed since Angie became evil, and the guilt still weighed heavily on her shoulders.  She had been unable to keep her friend from losing herself and as a result, the purest evil known to man roamed the Earth.
For some bizarre reason, most of the demonic activity had ceased, only causing Erin’s and her friends’ anxiety to climb.  The peacefulness fueled her suspicions and angst.  Something was about to happen, she just wasn’t sure what.
She dashed away her tears with the back of her hand as she relived the horrible day that had changed everything.

Teaser:
Erin swallowed the sudden lump in her throat, and a knot formed in the pit of her stomach.  The sense of déjà vu was overwhelming, because in the not so distant past she’d walked in on Angelo just after a shower.  She tried to move her feet, but they seemed to be anchored to the floor.  Her hands were weights at her sides, leaving her standing in all her naked glory in front of her former lover.  Well this just sucks, she thought to herself.“I knocked,” he offered up lamely.“I didn’t hear,” she said awkwardly. He reached for the towel and handed it to her, being sure to keep his eyes adverted.“Thanks,” she muttered, securing the towel around her.  She could feel flames creeping up into her cheeks.  Nervously, she tucked her hair behind her ear and chewed on her bottom lip.“Well, seems like we’ve been here before,” Angelo said, trying to make the situation feel a little less uncomfortable.“Yeah, seems vaguely familiar,” she laughed, “but I don’t really remember it being this awkward.”“Oh, it was,” he confirmed.

Hope you enjoyed the first part of Chapter one. This is the 3rd book in the series, and really needs the previous ones to be read first, listed below.

Cover Reveal: Dead Harvest by Jeanette Battista & Tracey Phillips

Dead Harvest blurb:
Genre--Young Adult/New Adult > Urban Fantasy
Release Date--November 13, 2011

Someone’s been raising the dead and it’s J’s job to find out who. As a detective operating in the Underworld, J—with her powers of shadow manipulation—is uniquely equipped for the job. What she isn't counting on is the help of an escapee from a mental institution who seems to attract trouble just by existing.
It’s up to J and T—two very unlikely allies—to find the necromancer and bring him before the Underworld Balance Magistrate for judgment before the human world gets wise to the dead walking among them.

Tracey Phillips bio:
Tracey is a science writer by day and gamer by night. She’s worked in a tea factory, dropped creamed spinach on a four star General, wrangled the prose of college freshmen, and stage-managed more amateur theatrical productions than you can shake a stick at. Her random and misspent youth also included a yearlong sojourn in Scotland that left her with a strange fondness for daffodils and fife and drum music. She lives in North Carolina with her husband, two children, every video game console known to man, and an extremely low-maintenance cat.

Jeanette Battista bio:
Jeanette graduated with an English degree with a concentration in medieval literature which explains her possibly unhealthy fixation on edged weapons and cathedral architecture. She spent a summer in England and Scotland studying the historical King Arthur, which did nothing to curb her obsession. To satisfy her adrenaline cravings—since sword fighting is not widely accepted in these modern times—she rode a motorcycle at ridiculously high speeds, got some tattoos, and took kickboxing and boxing classes. She gave up the bike when her daughter came along, although she still gets pummeled at the gym on a regular basis.

When she’s not writing or working, Jeanette spends time with family, hikes, reads, makes decadent brownies, buys killer boots, and plays Pocket Frogs. She wishes there were more hours in the day so she could actually do more of these things. She lives with her daughter and their two psychotic kittens in North Carolina.

Review~ LunAngelique (Book 1) By Kristin Campbell

Title: Lunangelique
Series: Lunangelique #1
Author: Kristin Campbell
Published: June 20, 2012
Find Kristen Campbell at:

For Alexis and Alex life has been great. They have loving parents, great friends and live a life every teenager dreams. However, they are adopted and Alexis struggles with wanting to know who their real parents are and not wanting to hurt her adopted parents. Then, a stunning guy moves across the street from them. One who has a secret past and seems to know things about Alexis. One who does mysterious things and leads her to other mysterious persons. One who pushes her to discover her extraordinary birth family and the truth between mythology and religion.

WOW, I loved this book so much, and was so happy that the sequel Sleeping Gods was out and bought it right away! Man, its just as good as JLA's Covenant Series. Story is totally different, but I mean as the meshing of modern day with some mythology int here and some angels too. This book was different in a great way.
Kristen is a brilliant author. I predict her career to be long and successful!

I wont say too much spoiler type things, because you need to discover the wonder of this story yourself.

Alexis and Alex (Alexander) are twins, who were adopted when they were babies. Its starts with Alexis (Lexi) wanting to find out about her biological parents. Alex tries to convince her that there is not need, as they love their adoptive parents, as they are great.
Well, not long after she starts to discover many things, and meets a few new people who are more than the normal, but she doesn't know this at first. When she meets a really good artist (she is also a great artist) who could be an older twin of her brother Alex, she starts to wonder if she just found a relative or something. I wont say more on that, you will find out.

Cole seems to be a great guy, and was wondering if he would turn out to be bad, and then Oliver, I was always un-sure of him.
I like Lexi, she is a strong female character. I was able to relate to her, but was a bit jealous of her great talents, but there is a reason for it, lol.

Here is a small taste to get your interest up:

“Just let me go, ******. Tell the others I got away. They won’t know the truth.”He watches me slip one hand out of a cuff, looking at me with wonder in his eyes again. “What are you? Just tell me,” he pleads. I keep eye contact with him as he lets me slip the other hand out of the cuff and I stand up, rubbing the impressions left behind by the cuffs.

If you like any modern day angel, fallen angel, or mythology books, you will love this. Its written well, better than well, brilliant!

I can't wait to get back to Sleeping Gods now. Check it out. You wont be sorry.

5 out of 5 stars for me, and highly recommended!

I received a copy of this book from the author for my honest review.

Check out Book 2 Sleeping Gods below is cover and Summary

Review: Paradise 21 New Dawn Book 1 by Aubrie Dionne

Title: Paradise 21
Author:Aubrie Dionne

Aries has lived her entire life aboard mankind's last hope, the New Dawn, a spaceship traveling toward a planet where humanity can begin anew--a planet that won't be reached in Aries' lifetime. As one of the last genetically desirable women in the universe, she must marry her designated genetic match and produce the next generation for this centuries-long voyage. But Aries has other plans. When her desperate escape from the New Dawn strands her on a desert planet, Aries discovers the rumors about pirates--humans who escaped Earth before its demis--are true. Handsome, genetically imperfect Striker possesses the freedom Aries envies, and the two connect on a level she never thought possible. But pursued by her match from above and hunted by the planet's native inhabitants, Aries quickly learns her freedom will come at a hefty price. The life of the man she loves.

Paradise 21 review

Wow, this was a really good book. I loved the romance that happens in it too. I can relate to Aries as well. I would not want to be forced into a loveless marriage so I could “produce” more perfect DNA. Meaning kids. Yeah, not happening, lol. I do not blame her for leaving the New Dawn, which is a colony ship, which is on its way to Paradise 21, another planet far away, but the New Dawn won’t get there in her lifetime. Anyway, it has excitement, romance, a hot guy , and I mean Striker.

I did not like her computer chosen mate, he was a jerk, and hated that he got everything he wanted, but he is controlling, so of course he goes after Aries, to drag her back to the ship.
She crash lands on a desert planet, and is lucky to meet up with one human, yes, the hot guy Striker.

I do not want to say too much more, but will say, if you enjoy sci-fi at all, you will love this. It doesn’t have a bunch of scientific jargon to stump you at all. It’s all easy to understand and follow the story. I had a hard time putting this book down.

A Must read in my opinion.

Watch for my review of the next New Dawn series book, called Tundra 37. I will get to Have 6, the newest book soon, for the book tour.

I really only have one negative to say, and that is the cover, the girl on cover looks Nothing like Aries is supposed to look, first Aries is of the best DNA and is gorgeous, with auburn hair and light eyes, blue I think, forget now, but anyway, girl on cover is not even close to pretty enough, not to mention, the look is nothing like what Aries would wear. Just my opinion. Would have been better to not have any models on it if the right ones are not found.

5 out of 5 stars.

I received this book for the book tour coming up for Haven 6, the latest book in the New Dawn series.
