My Review

Ok, let me start of saying, WOW, and that this book caused me to get an egg size lump on my forehead, let me explain. I got so into this book, I could not put it down, so I thought I would try to walk and read at the same time, you know, multitask, and well, I ran into a door. And open door, meaning I ran right into the edge of the door that was partway open. Smack, not only which, I had stepped on my cat’s tail, much to her dismay, and burned dinner. ALL because I could not get my nose out of this book (ok, kindle, but same point) I was ok reading the beginning, not causing myself harm, as it had to build the story, but once it really got going (about halfway) I could not stop, and I snapped at my family as they tried to get my attention, lol. They are very glad that I am done with this book. The ending was such a cliffhanger too; I can’t wait until the next book.

Let me tell you a little about this book. It’s a great mix of romance, suspense and the paranormal.

Caitlin has scary visions of people who are going to die, and let me say, her visions are scary, I would have a heart-attack if I had these visions. Especially later when they turn a little different. You will see. I will say that Caitlin is a very strong character; I would never be able to handle what she does.

I really loved the friendship between Sarah and Caitlin, it was so sweet and so glad she had Sarah to turn too, as she is the only one who knows of her visions. Which by the way, look like night terrors when Caitlin has them while asleep, so it had to be scary to Sarah to wake Caitlin up from those. (they are roommates at collage)

I also loved the passion between Caitlin and Simon. I was mad at Caitlin a lot, not letting Simon in, but can understand why. But at some point when it was obvious that he was not going to give up, that he truly cared about Caitlin, she should have told him the truth, and not push him away. I can name a perfect time she could have done this. When he actually woke her from one of these visions. I know she pushed him away, because of her vision of him, but to me, she needed to keep him close to try to protect him, in my opinion. You will see why, I do not want to spoil anything.

I will say I never read a book about Vardogers before, and loved the new supernatural twist to this. It was so real feeling, but enough of the paranormal to keep my interest (anyone who knows me, I have to have some kind of paranormal in any books I read) I found the whole idea of the Vardogers fascinating and think the author did a really good job at describing what they are, and I won’t even try. Caitlin as a seer was a given when you know she has these visions right from the start of the book. I was very interested when she finally got some answers to her questions, and was also sad too at the end, at what she had to do. It broke my heart.

I really love Simon, he is gorgeous, sexy, and the most amazing gentleman. He doesn’t give up on Caitlin, even when most guys would. I really hated how she kept pushing him away, but I do understand she was doing what she thought was right at the time. But I hated how it hurt him. They are soul mates, that connection they have, is not a normal one, I really believe he will play a big role in helping her rid the world of the evil Vardoger’s. I hope anyway, in the 2nd book. He is perfect, and think would be good for Caitlin, if she would just share her secrets with him. I can hope it happens in the next book.

The fun banter between Caitlin is Simon was refreshing, loved it, especially one part where he seen Caitlin outside, looking scared, and he came up to her, and scared her on accident, here is a quote of her telling a friend about it, its cute.

I turned to Colleen and Marnie. “Oh, and he’s a creeper. He creeps up on you and scares you to death. He nearly gave me a heart attack last week sneaking up on me.” I turned back to Simon. “You should wear a bell or something.”Simon laughed loudly at my comment.

I just love Simon’s personality, and he can sing too, who wouldn’t love the guy. Here is a sweet quote of Simon talking to Caitlin after he woke her from a night terror/vision.

“Caitlin, there’s so much I don’t understand about you,” Simon said softly, moving his hand from my hair to my cheek, stroking gently. “I know you’re holding back on me. And as much as it bothers me that you won’t open up, I know I’m not the only one feeling this. I can see it in your eyes. You want me as much as I want you.”I opened my mouth not sure whether I was going to protest or agree, when he continued, not giving me a chance to speak.“I’m not just talking physically, although God knows that’s a big part of it. I find my thoughts drifting to you when you’re not around. Wondering what you’re doing. What you’re thinking. You’re funny, smart, sweet and beautiful. But you don’t seem to realize it. It’s endearing and frustrating at the same time. But the glimpses you give me, the glimpses of the Caitlin with no walls, is enough for me to know that you’re worth fighting for. So that’s what I’m going to do Caitlin. I’m fighting for you.

Awe, just love him. As you should be able to tell, this book is written very well, I was sucked in, and never really seen any errors, like 2 maybe in the whole book. I really think you should give this book a try. People who love the paranormal will love this, AND people who really are more into contemporary romance, but don’t mind a little paranormal, will like this too, as it’s not too far-fetched to get into, and believe, you know what I mean. It’s got some scary stuff from the visions, and man, they are creepy, but not enough to keep me from reading. (I can’t read horror books; I get nightmares and scare to easily, lol)

I highly recommend this book. It’s now another one of my favorites.

We had started this story with number four, as number one , two, and three were killed by the Mogadorians. There used to be 9 Lorien kids that were sent to earth to spread out, and develop their Legacies (their individual powers) (number 10 was a baby on a 2nd ship, we learned of her in last book)

(bewared there are some small teaser spoilers, not enough to ruin the book, just for your enjoyment)
So with this book we start where I Am Number Four: The Lost Files: Six's Legacy left off, with Nine (he has an anti-gravity legacy, and other skills) and Four teamed up, after escaping the underground facility where Nine was held prisoner for a year. Sam was left behind. Meanwhile Marina (who can heal with her hands), Ella (can change to a younger version and back up to her real age), her Cepan, and Six have fled Spain where number 7 was found (Marina) Ella is number 10 (she was on the 2nd ship that left Lorien) They head to the Himalayans’ to find who they think may be number 8 or 5 (its 8) so they have some battles to win on the way, and some weird tests they have to past before meeting Eight. Eight has a great power, well many, but one of them is teleporting, which is quite cool. I only mention this, as you will wonder how the heck they get where they go so quick.

In the meantime Four and Nine are fighting their own battles, including the FBI who teamed up with the Mogs, as the Mogs promised them all kinds of stuff for their help, dumb FBI choose the wrong side on this one, as the Mogs will destroy Earth. Anyhow, they do their thing and escape (by the way, I really dig Nine, think I want him for myself, lol) Nine tells Four that they have a safehouse set up. And boy do they! (His Cepan is dead, but it was all set up before that and the capture)

So they go to this safe “house” I will leave that part a mystery for you, but lets just say its NICE, and lots of technology, and they finally can use that white tablet they got from Sam’s dad’s stuff, and it actually locates all the other Lorien kids. They see something strange, now there is 4 dots in Himalayans and then right as they are looking they disappear, and show up a few seconds later, but one dot ends up in New Mexico (where a Lorien ship is) and the other 3 in the ocean somewhere, then those 3 disappear to Ireland. (Those are all places with large blue Lorien stones that enhance Eights teleporting powers, but somehow Six got dropped in the desert) He cant control which Lorien stone it takes them, so they have to keep hopping till they get to Six.

Meanwhile Four and Nine head to New Mexico to find Six (or a dot, they do not know which one it is, or how they have moved so fast) And Ella finally develops a very useful Legacy, she can do telepathy with the other Lorien kids, so this helps them alot in meeting up)

Here is a teaser from John's Point of View, when looking at the tablet they got working (they do not know where the others are, and who, they are just dots on the screen)

All of a sudden, Nine's at the edge of his seat. “Holy shit! Four! Check it out. They’ve moved.”

“Who moved?” I take the tablet out of his hand. The blue dots that identify us have changed position. At least, some of them have. There is still one blue dot in Jamaica and two in Chicago. But there are now three off the coast of Africa, and one in New Mexico. My chest relaxes when I see there are still seven dots, but I’m confused by how they moved to these other places so quickly. “How did they do that?”

“I have no idea,” Nine says. “It’s like they teleported or jumped through space. Maybe they found a stargate, or something?”

“Henri said stargates don’t exist,” I said, 

shaking my head.

“Yeah, well, neither do aliens from another planet, according to some people. In fact, many people.”

He’s right. Maybe Henri was wrong. “One Garde is in New Mexico, Nine. Near what you think might be our ship. That can’t be a coincidence. Do you think they’re going after it?”

I will leave you with that Six almost dies in the dessert, and she finds a fence, that happens to be a secret facility (the government has their ship) and she is captured. Lots of stuff happens at this point.

The story is told well, we hop back and forth from Four, Marina (7) and Six’s Point of views. Its pretty easy to follow. I recommend anyone who liked the other books to pick this one up. Its packed with more fun and action and suspense than any of the others. We get to see many battles, and loses, its on the edge of your seat excitement.

I look forward to the next book, can’t wait.

I do not want to add any real spoilers, most I said has much more going on, just gave you a few highlights without details.

If you have not read any of these, I suggest you do, start with I Am Number Four (not just watch the movie, its good, but missed lots of stuff, and the powers are not all right in the movie, book is better)

“You found me in that cell because I made a mistake. It was my mistake, not Sandor’s. And you know what? Where’s your Cêpan? You think yours was so much better than mine? Wake up, idiot! They’re both dead, so I really doubt one was so much better than the other.”

I feel bad for what I said, but I’m sick of Nine trying to bully me. I push him away. “Back off, Nine. I mean it. Just. Back. Off. And stop talking to me like I’m your little brother.”

Fairy parents send their children to the Camp Fae to learn to use magice, and so they themselves can have some R & R of course. This story is told in the 3rd person view, and we get a good look into Alley’s thoughts, and the narrator even will address the reader at times.


Alley is cute and fun, and tries to help everyone. She seems perfect fairy wise. She even has a “look” she gives when she is mad at people. One thing I didn’t like, is that Alley has just found out she is a fairy, and didn’t even believe in magic or that fairy’s existed, until she is at Camp Fae, and she seems too perfect, like she too perfect at everything, I kindof wish she would have some big fail at something, and I don’t mean blowing things up, a big fail. Seems she can do it all without really trying. Overall Alley is a sweet character who’s heart is in the right place.


This is a cute fairy story for younger teens and tweens, maybe 10-14 years old. Though I see that is the target range, I find some thoughts and actions of Alley to be even more of a 16 year old. For instance, usually at 13 girls and boys alike think boys have cooties, lol, but then you do have the more boy crazy girls at that age as well. Just seems at times Alley seems even younger than 13 but at other times, acts a little too old for her age. Maybe its different now than when I was 13 (long ago) but I do remember when my daughter was 13 (not too long ago) and she was defiantly not into boys at all at that age. Some of the thoughts Ally has when another fairy who is a little older than her, needs to help her back into Camp Fae, and says she needs to hug him, to allow him to teleport them. She gets flustered and embarrassed, like she likes him, or something. That part just felt a little older. But don’t get me wrong, this book is perfect for the mature 10 year olds to about 14.


Here is a quote of the part I am talking about: page 93 (reviewer paperback copy)

“I guess I will try and take you” He explained.
“Take me?”
“Yep. I’ve never done it before but supposedly once you’ve got teleporting down it itsn’t difficult. I just bring two of us over there.”
“Ok, then what? I take your hand?”
“No, you’d better hug me.”
“Hug you?”
“Yep.”
And she suddenly felt herself pulled into his strong embrace.
The feel of his strong arms around her-the warmth of his body, the smell of his strength, and the tenderness of his touch.
“Are you sure you aren’t doing this to…” she couldn’t complete the thought. His face was suddenly reddening, but he laughed a little. Maybe he was being straight with her after all, but she kind of wished he wasn’t. It felt good to be held like this, and Saladine was so…
…so dreamy.

So you see what I mean, this seems like it would be more 16-17 year olds in this part, but they are not, she is 13 and him I am not sure, a few years older maybe.
I do recommend the book however, as it is a fantastical, magical world that the author has written. The creativity in this book is wonderful, for sure. I am anxious to get on with reading book 2 The Pixitres to see how it all plays out.

I really liked Wilde’s Fire. It was a pleasant mix of sci-fi and fantasy that I really enjoyed. Katriona (Kate) Wilde gets transported to another world through a portal, that Kate, and her best friend and sister were lead to during a camping trip. Its great how you start off in the middle of the usual teen drama, then the next minutes your in a whole new world with war, and darkness and unimaginable horrors! Kate is amazing, she is brave and open-minded, as well as caring and very loyal. Arland is quite dashing, as a other-worldly warrior/leader, that has a great heart underneath.


It’s a very unique and a refreshing story. I am anxious now to read book 2 Wilde's Army (review of it coming soon too!)
I highly recommend if you like the fantasy/sci-fi books. Paranormal book lovers will love this too.

Let me say first, I did LOVE this book, I really did. Can't wait for book 2.

I like books with Greek Mythology in them, especially when a great story is told. I will be honest, I was a bit lost in the beginning, but after about 20% into it, I finally was understanding more of what is going on. My advice is stick to it, it will work out for you.
We start with Acacia being created by Zeus to pacify Eros, as he was tricked into losing his one true love, and Zeus hoped to placate him, so he had created one women after another to try and make him happy. Amora and Allana came first, then Acacia was presented to him. He rejects them all.

Amora is a bitter, and a mean girl, who was exceedingly upset that Eros didn’t want her when she was created, while Allana is a bit over sweet and believes that all will be okay in the end. It’s Acacia,-the newest creation who has been turned down by Eros- who has been told that although he doesn’t want her-Eros does OWN her outright, and she is to do his bidding. She is still his, and another can’t have her. Eros also threatens Zeus that if he does not get “the only women he’s even been in love with” in the next year, a war will begin that will bring down the King Of Gods. So basically Acacia has one year to learn from her two sisters and do her job before perhaps being sent into the Underworld when the war begins and Eros goes against Zeus.

Acacia is sent to the mortal world, to school, to help love along the way. She basically matches up peoples auras that are compatible. The only problem is, that Acacia is a pretty sick of her job. She is beyond lonely and doesn’t understand why she must constantly give others the gift of love, when she can’t ever experience it herself.

But then we have Josh come along, out of nowhere, Acacia sees a stunning young guy on the football field who is a true mystery to her, because he has absolutely no aura whatsoever. Now all mortal have auras, so Acacia is confused. Is he a test? Is her mean sister, Amora, using this guy to teach Acacia a lesson? Acacia is scared, especially when her feelings for Josh grow deeper and deeper by the minute.

“I was staring at you because … ” I let out a sigh. I suppose I'd better go with the lesser of two evils. “ … I thought … you were … well … hot.” I cringe at the word but can’t think of a better one. My cheeks burn with embarrassment; I think I would have rather told him I was a new breed of goddess who has a twelve month expiration date, sent to the mortal world to make people fall in love. It would have been less embarrassing than this. Josh’s expression doesn't change and he doesn’t say anything back, so I carry on. 
Acacia finally finds out when her and Josh eventually touch, that he is her soul mate, the symptoms of it are something she recognizes, but she is not allowed to be with another, even though Eros does not want her. But he owns her, so she would be punished for loving another.

“You told me that the greatest gift in this world is love, that the only bond that can’t be broken by anything but death is love and that the one thing we all deserve above anything else is love. Well, I've given I don’t know how many people that gift and now I've found it I'm not letting it go.”
At this point in the story, I was as clueless as Acacia, to who Josh is, or could be, since he does not have an aura, she thinks he has to also be a god like her, or descendent, or from the Underworld. She does not know what to think, she goes through ideas it may be a trick from Amora, her hateful “sister” But then Allana acts strange about the whole deal, and after I read the end, and found who he is, all those actions then made sense, and not sure if many would catch on to that till later like I did.

So to try to not spoil anything, I will say, more strange behavior by Allana, and Josh and Acacia do see each other, he even saves her life, from a Merfolk attack. They become quite close. Then of course Amora finds out, and tells Eros, Acacia gets threatened by Eros, and Allana says she will go to Olympus to speak with him, to try and work something out for her.

But it all is a big fail, Acacia finds herself in the Undereworld, (I won’t tell about the dramatics of her being taken there, it’s a spoiler, but heartbreaking), Hades needs her skills in order to make his wife Persephone, fall in love with him. So he can be happy, but then this would start a way that Hades has been building, that Zues does not know about.

Acacia finds she has a protector in the Underworld, from an unlikely source, an immortal (yes, a vampire) named …. Won’t say that, lol. Who seems to have romantic attraction to her as well. Well, all h..l breaks loose and won’t say why, but Acacia does get lots of answers, and I will say, this part in the Underworld, bugged me. I thought Josh was her soul mate, so why does she return this love attraction to the vampire?? It makes me MAD, I will tell you that. You do not forget about a love like Josh in a few days! That’s all I will say on that.

You will know why I say that when you read it. BUT this book is certainly setting us up for book 2, which I will read; I can’t wait to see what she does now. The situation is not good, let’s say that. The ending was very abrupt too, which left me unsatisfied, since I do not have book 2 to just pick up!

Overall it’s a really good book, like I mentioned a few parts made me mad, and it will you as well.
I had my suspicions about Josh, and wonder if you will too, so if you suspect what I did, then you will be angry too, and think Acacia is a fool.

Get the book, it’s worth reading, it’s a great tale told like I have never read before. Greek Mythology brought into the modern world. It’s great.

I guess in the second book, we will find out who exactly Acacia loves, if she chooses good, or evil.

I watch him as he lays flat next to me, looking exhausted from his swim. I try hard not to stare at his sculpted body sprawled out beside me, but its pretty difficult when the last few traces of water are dancing in the sunlight, performing a private seduction only for me.

"Acacia, what's wrong?" Josh shouts over the music. I look into his eyes, mine filling with tears. This is it, this is going to be the end of us, and I now wish that this dance, even though I wished it had never started, would never end.

First Chapter First Paragraph - Tuesday Intros Hosted by Bibliophile By The Sea

Every Tuesday I will participate in the Tuesday Intro First Chapter-First Paragraph Intros.

These are books we decided to read based on the first paragraph or so. Then find another “Teaser” in the book somewhere to catch our interest.

My Intro and tease is from Darkness Descends, a book I just finished a few days ago, and LOVED. You can find my review here

Will (Wills POV for this part)

You can tell a lot about people by the way they treat animals. Take my girlfriend for instance. Before school this morning, I pull up next to Cassie's house and find her crouched next to a gray kitten, her fingers outstretched. The kitten nudges her hand with its nose and drags the entire length of its body against her fingertips, like it's the most sensational feeling in the world. The kitten circles around, pushing its fur against her hand all over again down the opposite side of its body.
It all happens in one fluid motion, like the kitten and Cassie are doing some sort of ballet together, completely unaware of me or the rest of the world, and for a brief moment, I wanted to be that kitten, purring beneath her fingertips. When she glances over and sees me waiting, she smiles. I can feel her mind anchor to mine, and my mind touches hers back. (they can read each others minds, they have abilities like that, very good book)

Mr Duncan's chest glows from within. I can see ripples of heat rising from the surface of his body. The light spreads upward. His face glows red, then blue, then white, even the inside of his hair shafts are glowing. The light spreads throughout his body until light escapes from every part of him. Ashley shines, pure white light, and she looks as close to an angel as I could ever imagine, absolutely otherworldly.

I hope you enjoyed my teasers and the intro. I have really enjoyed these books.
