Industrial Magic by Kelly Armstrong (Women of The Otherworld 4) Review

Industrial Magic (Women of the Otherworld, #4)Industrial Magic by Kelley Armstrong
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

"Industrial magic" is the fourth book in Kelley Armstrong's "Women of the Otherworld" series, and you are highly likely to enjoy it a lot, specially if you read the others before. "Bitten", "Stolen" and "Dime store magic" Which introduce you to a world where magic and the supernatural are just part of everyday life. "Industrial magic" just takes you further into it...this series has demons, deities, vampires, werewolves, witches, sorcerers, shaman, druids, necromancers, clairvoyants, and much more. The supernatural world lies just under the surface of the known world and definitely has a nasty bite. With "Industrial Magic", we are once again treated to a delightful adventure that will suck you in and not let go until the end . (Summary from book and Amazon)

I really enjoyed this book. I wasn't sure I would, as Paige was not my favorite character, but she really grew on me in "Dime Store Magic", and continued to grow on me in this one, and i love how the werewolves get involved in this book as well.
It was fast paced and action packed. A great addition to the "Women of the Otherworld" series. If you like the paranormal, and action, with some romance, then this series is for you, including this book.
I enjoyed the relationship with Paige and Lucas, its very touching, and believable. He is very sweet and considerate, a perfect match for Paige.

Dime Store Magic by Kelly Armstrong (Women of the Otherworld 3) Review

Dime Store Magic (Women of the Otherworld, #3)Dime Store Magic by Kelley Armstrong
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

From one of today’s most original writers comes the mesmerizing tale of an exceptional young woman caught up in an otherworldly realm where some will stop at nothing to get what they want.

Paige Winterbourne was always either too young or too rebellious to succeed her mother as leader of one of the world’s most powerful elite organizations—the American Coven of Witches. Now that she is twenty-three and her mother is dead, the Elders can no longer deny her. But even Paige’s wildest antics can’t hold a candle to those of her new charge—an orphan who is all too willing to use her budding powers for evil...and evil is all too willing to claim her. For this girl is being pursued by a dark faction of the supernatural underworld. They are a vicious group who will do anything to woo the young, malleable, and extremely powerful neophyte, including commit murder—and frame Paige for the crime. It’s an initiation into adulthood, womanhood, and the brutal side of magic that Paige will have to do everything within her power to make sure they both survive.
(summary from Amazon)

Kelley Armstrong's "Dime Store Magic" is the third novel in the "Women of the Otherworld" series.
I was so in love with the original werewolf novels, and their heroine Elena Michaels and Clay, that I had my doubts about whether or not I would enjoy this new book starring, not lycanthropes, but witches. But, I quickly became absorbed in the story, and Kelly Armstrong's writing is, as always, excellent and filled with her dark humor. I could not put it down. I was surprised that I loved this book, as I was not really a fan of Paige, but we never got much from her in previous books. Savannah also grew on me, I was not sure how much I liked her either. The new characters introduces were interesting, and I love the love interest that gets introduced in this book.
I wont mention who, as I do not want to mention any spoilers.

Kelly did a great job yet again with this book.
I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

Haunted by Kelly Armstrong (Women Of the Otherworld 5) Review

Haunted (Women of the Otherworld, #5)Haunted by Kelley Armstrong
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

THE CONTINUING ADVENTURES OF THE SMART, SEXY — SUPERNATURAL — WOMEN OF THE OTHERWORLD

Eve Levine — half-demon, black witch and devoted mother — has been dead for three years. She has a great house, an interesting love life and can’t be killed again — which comes in handy when you’ve made as many enemies as Eve. Yes, the afterlife isn’t too bad — all she needs to do is find a way to communicate with her daughter, Savannah, and she’ll be happy.

But fate — or more exactly, the Fates — have other plans. Eve owes them a favor, and they’ve just called it in. An evil spirit called the Nix has escaped from hell. She feeds on chaos and death, and is very good at persuading people to kill for her. The Fates want Eve to hunt her down before she does any more damage, but the Nix is a dangerous enemy — previous hunters have been driven insane in the process. As if that’s not problem enough, the only way to stop her is with an angel’s sword. And Eve is no angel. . .
.
(Summary from Book, and Amazon)

I have loved all of the 5 books in this series so far. This is probably one of my favorites, next to any with Elena and Clay.

Contrary to what some reviewers have said, I like the familiarity with the characters and I also like the growth and development of the characters. It feels like more loose ends get tied up to a point with

Eve and Kristof. I enjoyed it.
Thanks to consistent and believable "rules" in the world of her work, Kelly wrote a very believable, and enjoyable book. I do not believe what some people say, that you can skip this one. No way, there is way to much info, and fun, and plot twist to miss out.
Its a must read in my honest opinion.

In HAUNTED, Kelly Armstrong has given us all a gift, a truly touching story about a woman who recognizes life's precious moments for the miracle they are and learns to cherish them as she reaches emotional maturity just-- a little too late - in an afterlife that is anything but restful and boring.

So don't miss out

Broken by Kelly Armstrong-Review

Broken (Women of the Otherworld, #6)Broken by Kelley Armstrong
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

In this thrilling new novel from the author of Industrial Magic, a pregnant werewolf may have unwittingly unleashed Jack the Ripper on twenty-first-century—and become his next target.

Ever since she discovered she’s pregnant, Elena Michaels has been on edge. After all, she’s never heard of another living female werewolf, let alone one who’s given birth. But thankfully, her expertise is needed to retrieve a stolen letter allegedly written by Jack the Ripper. As a distraction, the job seems simple enough—only the letter contains a portal to Victorian London’s underworld, which Elena inadvertently triggers—unleashing a vicious killer and a pair of zombie thugs.

Now Elena must find a way to seal the portal before the unwelcome visitors get what they’re looking for—which, for some unknown reason, is Elena. (From book and amazon summary)

My Review

I was really excited when I seen this 6th book in the Women of the Otherworld series was about Elena and Clay and the pack. I love these characters. This story is centered around Elena and her pregnancy, which is difficult, since both parents are werewolves, and this is a first as far as they know. Elena gets herself into quite a mess, because she was bored. There was this letter that a half demon wanted her pack to steal so he could sell it. But somehow the letter contained a time cell/holding cell in a portal, with a piece of Victorian England that pops out some zombies, cholera, and possibly Jack the Ripper.

In this book, Kelly has introduces some new supernatural characters, such as Zoe Tankan, a female vampire with eyes for Elena, and she also brings back some characters that we love too. Nick, and Antonio are called to Canada to assist with the hunt for “Jack the Ripper”, and Jamie Vegas, a beautiful necromancer (and a burr up Clay’s backside), aids the werewolves with the eradication and the return of these zombies, and whatever else, back to their own time. We even have some gross killer diseased rats too.

This book has intrigue, betrayal, friendships, plot-twists you don't see coming.

Broken is so far, one of my favorite Women of the Otherworld storylines. Clay’s spiral into a fevered delirium is not without its scary moments and we watch Clay and Elena become a family with the upcoming birth. The birth scene is heartwarming and humorous, and you can almost hear the panic in their voices. Paige, as their long distance birthing coach makes it all come together; getting bits of other characters we have come to love.

Overall Broken is a very nice read, and a great addition to the urban-fantasy, supernatural genre. I really hope kick-ass Elena and Clay is going to make more appearances. I would love to see more of them.

I recommend this book and series to anyone who likes any of the Women of the Otherworld books, or any of Kelley Armstrong's work. Be sure to read  Bitten: A Novel (Women of the Otherworld) first. It’s the first book in series, and has Elena and Clay.

Stolen by Kelly Armstrong-Review

Stolen (Women of the Otherworld, #2)Stolen by Kelley Armstrong
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Having read and loved Kelly Armstrong's Bitten, I couldn't wait to read Stolen, the second installment of the Women of the Otherworld series. Elena Michaels, the only female werewolf in the world, is back to take on a far bigger challenge than chasing killer mutts. Elena and the pack members don't believe in supernatural creatures and think that werewolves are the only phenomenon on this planet (go figure!) -- that is until she meets witches Ruth and Paige Winterbourne. Elena learns that in addition to werewolves and witches there are also demons, shamans, sorcerers, vampires, and other creatures living among humans. To make matters worse, a top secret scientific lab wants to research every supernatural creature they can encounter. And when Elena is held captive by said lab researchers, she discovers the real motive behind the captivation's, ( got to read it to find out what!) Elena hopes that her pack will come to her rescue, but will it be possible to get past the tight security of the compound? There are many twists throughout the novel.

Its one of those "On the edge of your seat" books. I have really enjoyed Kelly Armstrong's books so far, especially this "Women of the Otherworld" series. For those who have read the YA series Darkness Riding series, this is like a back history, and actually will tie into that series.

A very exciting book. Don't miss out.

Bitten by Kelly Armstrong-Review

Bitten (Women of the Otherworld, #1)Bitten by Kelley Armstrong
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I highly enjoyed Kelly Armstrong's other books, like the Darkness Rising books, I have only just started the Women of the Otherworld series, so i have not read any of the others of this series, I started with Bitten, and giving my review now as I just finished it. Bitten, was well written and unusual, with a fresh take on the same old werewolf/shapeshifter tale. I really enjoyed the book. I read it in 2 days as i could not put it down. It really sucks you into the story. The characters were very well written, makes you care for them, and want to know what happens. I can't wait to get into the next book. The ending was satisfying and also leaves you wanting more.

Life's not easy when you're the only female werewolf in existence and Elena is a wonderful character. She is a reluctant werewolf who just longs to be human; uncertainty and anger at her situation are understandable. She does not like her life as much as she ought to and so she escapes to Toronto, only to be brought back to her New York dwellings (the home of The Pack) when strange murders start happening. She is a valuable asset in scoping out the Mutts (werewolves who are not with the Pack).

I love the complicated relationship she has with Clay, the emotional baggage that comes with it, makes you feel for them both. The chemistry that Elena and Clay have is powerful, and makes you feel it. I can understand why she did the things she did, and why she would fight her own feelings for Clay. She tried to move on, out of the pack, and needed to do that to come to terms with what Clay did to her. Sometimes it takes time, and trying something different to find out how you truly feel about someone.Kelly Armstrong really gets this right. Those who give bad reviews of the book, because of what Elena did, just do not grasp the emotional turmoil that Elena went through. So give this book a chance, you won't be sorry.
I couldn't help but love Clay, Jeremy, and the other members of the Pack. I am hooked.
