For P.J. Stone, being a “Seer” who has never seen anything is less than fun. And P.J. isn’t known for her patience.
To make matters worse, she must choose a suitable mate to continue the Seer bloodline. Duty always comes before her heart…at least that’s what her parents taught her. When she finds herself wanting someone who is considered off-limits, P.J. is forced to question everything she believes.
As if navigating her love life isn’t complicated enough, P.J. finally receives a vision—of a threat to her world that only she can perceive. But no one will believe a fledgling Seer’s warnings. With nowhere else to turn, she may decide to trust a stranger with her life, her world, and maybe even her heart.

Hidden Gates Review

**This is Not a Ya book, more like New Adult, or Adult, has many sex scenes in it.**

I really enjoyed this story a lot. I liked the world the author created, even if a bit scary at times, lol. No spoilers in this just so you know. I felt pretty dumb thinking this was a YA, It did start with them in the hall in high school, and usually books with HS kids are YA. But was I in for a huge sexual surprise, lol. I think I have read Adult books with less sex than this one, lol, but it’s done in a very tasteful way, no worries, but for sure 18 and up for this one. I totally fell in love with these characters though, and that love of them just grew through the book.

I will say, that I was confused to why all of a sudden P.J. was wanted by all these guys, like she drew them too her. But then the twist comes, and I find out why, but I won’t be telling you. Just read it, and wait for it, it will smack you between the eyes. I sure did not see that one coming.

I liked the magical elements to it, with P.J. Being a “seer” but I did not like the restrictions thy forced on the young adults. As its found out early, that P.J and her best friend forever Bryn, are in love, but its forbidden, as he is a “Guardian” and is to be trained to be her Guardian, as all Seer’s are to have one. So that part, I just was like, its so unfair, lol. Seer’s can only pair up with Gatekeepers or descendents of Seer’s (all Seer’s are female)

Bryn I liked a lot, in the beginning at least, and once you read the book, you will know what I mean. As some major things change and he is like a different person towards the end. He sounds so gorgeous too, with cerulean blue eyes, and black hair, tall at 6’4 . I also thought the young ‘Gatekeeper’ was sweet, Jeremy, who P.J. was told to date by her mom, she set them up on the arranged type dates. Won’t get into all that, would take forever.
I really liked the true passion that was between P.J. and Bryn, it was a love that was built up over their life, since they were 5 years old. No insta-love here, thank goodness.

Now Kohl, wow, what a sexy hunk he is. I am still torn between him and Bryn, by the end of the book, I kindof am starting to lean toward Kohl. I can’t say why, as it will give too much away.

I think the character building was great, and so was the world building. The Descriptions of Kohl’s place is really well done.

Here is a short teaser of that passion (its clean)

His lips met mine with an undercurrent of electricity. The kiss started out soft and sweet but began to gain momentum quickly. I gasped as his tongue slid in to deftly take control of my mouth. An unfamiliar feeling of liquid heat pooled in my middle, causing a moan to escape from me as I wrapped my arms around his shoulders in an attempt to pull him closer. It was like my body was on fire, and Bryn was the only one who could bring me relief.

And her is another steamy scene:
His hands tangled in my hair, and just like the night before, I found myself pushed up against a tree by Bryn. The way he was kissing me was different than before though, he was being more forceful, and there seemed to be an undercurrent of desperation. All my nerve endings felt like they crackled with his energy, and a wave of pure lust slammed into me. “I can’t lose you. I just can’t,” he rumbled into my mouth.

That is just a taste of the kind of passion in this. The only problem I had with this book, is it to me had too much of the sexual stuff, and less of the great magical world, I would rather only 1 -2 sex scenes and the rest all the story. I don’t really read books that are just mostly about the sex, just isn’t my kind of thing, rather be pulled into a great fantasy story, this only partially does that for me, because just too much goes into the sex.

Except for that, it’s a brilliant book for me. I sure was sucked into it, and read in one sitting just about, as it was hard to put down once I got started.

I don’t want to say too much more. I do highly recommend this book. People who love lots of sex in their books will be satisfied with this for sure, but there is still enough of the magical fantasy world too to make the rest of us happy.

5 out of 5 stars.

I was given a copy of this book by the author for my honest review.

Hidden Gates Excerpt 1:
Most Seers my age had at least gotten some small premonitions. Me—not even a blip on my premonition radar. Maybe I was some weird Seer anomaly that was born without powers. If that were the case . . . well, at least my dating worries would be over. Hooray?
Bryn sighed loudly. “Some Speaker you are. Do you not know what this means?” He waved his hand in front of his neck in a slashing motion again.
Jenna scrunched up her face at him. “Obviously not.”
I placed my hand on top of Bryn’s. “It’s okay. I might as well face the truth. Something went wrong with me, and I’m never going to actually see anything.”
Bryn interlaced his fingers with mine and gave my hand a squeeze in an effort to comfort me. “Maybe the problem is you’re putting too much pressure on yourself. Just relax.”
“And you know what’s a great thing for relaxation? Sex,” Jenna added.
I groaned. “Come on, Jenna—seriously—enough already.”

Teaser #1 (from Josh’s Pov, the POV go back and forth from Josh, and Grace)

Charlotte appeared from nowhere and grabbed my attacker. Something snapped and it echoed into the morning. He screamed then released me, and I fell to the ground as he retreated nursing a broken arm.Grace appeared beside Charlotte and both of them stood over me. Great, I was being protected by two girls, how humiliating.

Teaser #2 ( From Grace’s POV)
Before I knew what was happening, Seth had hold of me. He wasn’t rough, but he wasn’t tender either. He stroked my cheek again, and I gave in. My eyes closed and I pushed my face into his hand, feeling the memories of our entire life together flood through me and engulf me completely. He leant down and pressed his forehead to mine, and I knew he wanted to kiss me; it was taking all his strength to hold back. Surprised, I discovered how badly I wanted him, and deep inside my heart I knew we were right for each other.

Hidden Gates (P.J. Stone Gates Trilogy #1)

First Paragraph Of Chapter One:
“Hey P.J.” Evan’s raspy voice commanded my attention from beside my locker. I glanced over to meet his deep brown eyes with surprise. “I was wondering what you were doing this weekend?”
“Me?” I squeaked. Evan Thompson was actually speaking to me, and he knew my name.
“Yeah, you. I don’t see anyone else around, do you?”
My eyes traveled the length of the empty hallway and back. When did that happen? “No, I just—” I was silenced when Evan brought his hand up to caress the side of my face before slipping his fingers into my hair. The contact of his skin on mine made me tingle with awareness as his powers slid into me.
“How have I never noticed you before?” His voice had dropped down into a more intimate tone, and his eyes flashed with lust just before he pushed me back against the lockers and captured my lips with his. I groaned with pleasure as his tongue slid into my mouth to intertwine with mine, and his muscled body pushed firmly against me. The hand that wasn’t holding me captive by my hair moved down to—
“What?” I said with annoyance as I felt someone pinch the back of my arm, startling me back to reality.
I looked up to see my best friend Bryn’s dark blue eyes glittering with amusement. “Day dreaming again? Who was it this time? Let me guess.”
