On Sale for $.99 only from May 31 - June 1

Angelstone (Dark Angel #2)
Kindle Edition
Expected publication: May 31st 2013

After escaping from the Hollows and the Michaelea lightwarriors, Jordan takes Alyx and Israel to Aradale, a secret Rogue community, where they appear to be safe − for now. But did they bring the enemy with them? “Mini”, the strange and speechless young girl they rescued from the Hollows, is not as she seems. Why was Elder Michael keeping her locked up? What is she hiding?

Alyx and Israel are driven further apart as Israel continues to obsess over making Adere human and Alyx hides two secrets from him: that he may be part-demon and that she may be carrying his child, a tri-blood keye that can be used to unlock Hell.

Out in the mortal cities, pieces of Black Stone, the only material that can disrupt the angels’ healing abilities, continue to be stolen to make weapons for Samyara’s dark army. Alyx and her friends must stop them, but this means infiltrating holy and guarded places to steal the Black Stone − a monastery in remote China, a mosque in Saudi Arabia, an art gallery in Florence and a cathedral in Peru.

Can they win this deadly race against the Darkened?

 My Review:

I loved this second book of the Dark Angel series. I was lucky to read an ARC of this book too. I can't wait now to the next one! I am so hooked. I need to know what happens now!

This book starts right were the first one leaves us. Alyx is still worried that she may be carrying Isreal's child which would be a bad thing, and you know why if you read book one. Thats all I will say on that. Isreal also finds out some things about himself from someone who helped him discover it, wont say more on that either.

I was so up in the air for awhile on which guy Alyx should be with too, Jordan, or Isreal. I still lean toward Jordan, but the story keeps wanting us to like Isreal, lol. It just isn't happening for me I guess.  I think part is that Isreal just doesn't seem attractive at all to me, physically for sure, but not even personallity either. I  think Jordan sounds hot, and he is a great guy to me. But that is my personal opinion.

The story itself, besides the guys, is amazing. Kept me hooked right away. I didn't have that lost feeling I did when i first read the first book Angelfire. Only one part is still confusing to me, is, do these Seraphine have wings or not? They fly, and the covers show wings, but the way everything is described it seems they do not have wings, but do fly still. Yeah, that part of it is still a mystery to me. If I didn't see wings on the cover on the girl, I would not have assumed that they do have wings. As its not mentioned at all. Ohwell, small detail, not a big deal.

I was so sad at a few parts, but wont say why. So much death in this one (not too much, but any when its the good guys is too many to me)

I was on the edge of my seat for sure the last half of this book. I really love this story, and highly recommend it to anyone who likes paranormal reads. Not much romance in this, more action and thrills.

Oh, boy what a cliffhanger this one is though!! It will have you pulling your hair out for sure!!

Fans of The Mortal Instruments will love this I think. Give them both a try.

5 out of 5 stars for me. Highly recommended.

Excerpt
Chapter 1

Alyx had evaded him. For now.
She struggled to contain her breath, jagged from all the running, as she crouched behind a crumbling stone pillar. Here the grass struggled to grow between the uneven slate paving.
She was back in the DreamScape. Except this time, she was not surrounded by brick walls of the grey maze. No. This time the DreamScape was wide and bare except for the pillars that remain of these ruins. Bone-grey and broken.
Alyx felt naked. Exposed. She wished, almost, for the walls back.
She remembered the last time she was here - the trapped-ness, the panic, the claustrophobia of the brick maze - and a shudder ran through her. She remembered how Michael’s form had pushed its way through the skin of the Scape and his stony arms that held her. She remembered his promise to her.
“I will find you.”
Alyx stopped wishing for the walls to come back.
Stone scratched on stone, the sound grating against her spine. Alyx peered around the corner of her hiding place. A short distance away, whole pillars were being tossed across the ground as if they were but empty hollow things. Something was moving. Something powerful.
He was coming for her.
Fight, something in her whispered, soft like the voice of bloodink. Instead Alyx placed her hands on the slate. Escape was a better option.
She ran through Jordan’s instructions in her mind again. “Remember that the DreamScape is pliable. Imagine it like water around you. Push through it with your mind and it will move out of your way. Imagine there is a way out and there will be. But you must believe it.”
Alyx pressed down on the slate with her hands. It was unyielding. But she could do it. This time surely. A doorway, a way out, a way out. She had to make her way out. She couldn’t keep running.
All the while the noise of the sliding pillars grew louder and closer.
The slate remained unchanged. “Come on,” Alyx cried out in frustration.
Stop. Breathe, she told herself. She closed her eyes and forced the noises around her to fade.Breathe. Believe.
Believe.
Under her palms, Alyx felt the slate shifting. The smooth coolness turned to the grain of untreated wood. Her eyes flew open. Under her hands was a door, wooden and simple. The sides were uneven but who cared. She had created a door.
Her fingers moved over it. Wait. Where was the handle? The lock? Alyx’s fingers scratched at the edges of the door. It sat too flush against its frame for her to get her fingertips in there.
The noise of moving pillars was getting closer. Alyx felt the panic start to close its fingers around her throat. She stood and kicked down at the door. It’s only wood. It should break. Break, damn you, break.
“Come on, Alyx,” his voice carried through the panic-buzz in her brain, taunting her.
The pillar behind her flew out of the way. Alyx spun. Her heart felt like it wanted to leap from her throat. She was exposed.
He faced her, still some meters away but he didn’t need to get any closer. He tilted his head at her. “Maybe some incentive?” He stretched his right hand out and a broken pillar to his right lifted from the ground. Alyx stomped frantically at the door at her feet. He pointed his hand at her and the pillar flew towards her.
Fight, fight. The voice was unbearable now. Fight. Something in her snapped. Enough.
From within her bubbled forth a fury, a rage that tore away the fist-like panic at her throat. It ripped at the magic of the ‘Scape around her. Alyx could feel it gathering in her arms like yards of fabric. She heard a gasp. Did it come from her? Or him?
Like a giant soundless scream she projected all this energy from her. The pillar that was about to crush her blew back against the force. It flew back through the air and crashed into the ground, a cloud of grey dust billowing and spitting chips of stone around its resting place.
Her mind seemed to clear with the dust. Only then did Alyx realize what she had done.
Jordan.
Alyx ran to where Jordan had been standing. The pillar lay cracked in places. But he was gone.

Angelfire (Dark Angel #1)Review

Wow, this was an amazing book. I really got into it, and could see the world through Alyx’s eyes. I will admit a few parts did have me confused, as in I was not sure on the whole wings part, like if they only show when she is in her own realm, and not when on the Earth plane? As it has her still flying, but never mentions the wings. I assume she has them, as the cover shows them. But other than that, I had no problems with this story at all.

I am anxious for the next book, AngelStone (Dark Angel #2)

I was able to connect really well with the main character Alyx, she is strong minded, and fierce, which I love to see in a female character.
I was not sure of Isreal at first, but he grew on me, but will say, I really like Jordan, he seems to care what happens to Alyx, and think there will be more to that in the future books.

Here is a cute part where Alyx first meet the mortal she is connected too, I thought it was funny:

“You’re being here is no coincidence, is it?” His eyes narrow. “What are you?”“What a silly question,” Alyx says, trying not to let her panic show. “I’m a mortal just like you.”He grins. Alyx feels like an animal that has just been caught in a trap.“Firstly,” he says, “a real mortal would never call herself a ‘mortal’. And secondly, real mortals don’t come falling out of the sky to land delicately on the ground. No, real mortals break bones doing things like that,” he says this last sentence in a mock hush as if he was revealing some great secret. “Just keep that in mind when you try to pass yourself off as one of us next time.”Alyx’s breath sticks in her throat, a strangled sort of cry.But it only seems to amuse him further. “Yes, I saw you drop down to the ground before you knifed that thing. Scaring the living hell out of me I might add.” He glances up at the buildings that loom over them. “What is that, five storys that you just jumped from? Neat little trick. No you obviously aren’t human and you don’t look like one of them. So the question is... what are you?”“It’s dark. You shouldn’t have seen that.”“My night vision is fantastic.” He shrugs as if in apology. “Okay. Maybe ‘what are you?’ is too personal a question to ask so soon after we just started our friendship?”

Here is a little of a steamy part for you, much later on in the book:

Alyx traces her fingers across his top lip and presses her mouth to it, soft like the first drops of spring rain, her thumb trapped between the corners of their mouths. A rush fills her head. He gasps. Or does she? She isn’t sure. She pulls back to look at him. The way he is looking at her is... like he is seeing the stars for the first time.“Alyx...”She kisses him again, cutting him off. The world around them dissolves like sandcastles until there are just his lips and his hands.
Also this part with some steam:

Alyx traces his collarbones with her fingers.“I am sure. I want you. And. I want you to have me. All of me.”Israel nods. He kisses her again before pulling away. He slips his fingers under her shirt finding her skin. She lifts up her arms. He draws her shirt up off her, his hands dragging along her sides.Alyx can’t meet his gaze. It is too much. She lowers her eyes as Israel drops her shirt. She can feel him staring at her. She moves to cross her arms over herself but he catches her hands.“You have no reason to hide,” he says. He leans down to kiss her bare shoulder then runs his lips along her neck up to her ear. “You are so... painfully beautiful.”

Yeah, this book is great. It has it all, you have some great steamy parts, great exciting story with many twist you won’t see coming. I was shocked at one of them. I sure can’t wait for the next book.

I highly recommend this book, it’s a great Paranormal romance, its YA, but with clean steamy parts that will satisfy those that love some swoon parts. It has the suspense and action too. Written very well too.

5 out of 5 stars for sure. A Must read!

Leaked! MemorySong footage of Symon’s interrogation

“Good Morning. My name is Catarina Tosca and you’re watching Channel Halo News.
Our sources in the Elder’s council reveal that Symon, Alyxandria’s flock leader, was detained following Alyxandria’s disappearance. We were able to obtain some Memory ‘footage’ of the interrogation from one of the guards.”

Symon slumped in the chair. The bags under his eyes said he hadn’t slept in a while. No doubt he hadn’t. It had been 27 hours since Alyxandria had fled.
The room was windowless, inner-walls cluttered with shelves and Threads before sloping around and up like the inside of a hive. The Chief Elder’s chambers, in the very heart of the Elder-dome.
“I ask you again... where is she, Symon?” the deep voice was Elder Michael’s, standing before Symon, legs wide, fists on hips. Everything about him was reminiscent of a Viking King, his blond hair, his icy stare.
“I don’t know.” Symon’s voice had lost any emotion some time ago.
“I understand you’re wanting to protect her. I know what affection you have for this girl. But you are a warrior, first and foremost. Your loyalty is to me. Remember that, Symon.”
Symon’s lips pressed together, barely visible. I would have missed it had I not been staring intently at him.
“Elder, I would tell you if I knew, but I don’t.”
“Perhaps you want to be welcomed back into the Castus? Is that what it’ll take to loosen your tongue? I can do that for you.”
Symon shook his head, but there was no energy in it.
Michael’s tightened his fists as he straightened his arms to his side. He stepped up to Symon, leaned down to him until their noses were almost touching. “I could have it stripped from your memory, you know.”
This seemed to stir something in Symon. He straightened in his chair and narrowed his eyes at Michael, without blinking. “With all due respect Elder, go ahead. You won’t find anything because I don’t know anything.”
Michael made a noise in the back of his throat like a wild animal. Then he stood, pulling his face away from Symon’s. He clasped his hands behind him and floated towards his desk. His face was blank.
Michael’s arm shot out grabbing the small figurine of the eagle on his desk, spun and threw it. It smashed against the wall over Symon’s head. Symon clenched forward, eyes squeezed shut against the shower of splinters. Tikara, Michael’s eagle, his familia, squawked and flapped at his perch.
Michael’s voice was a roaring thunder, “I want my god damn Amulet-piece back.”

“Where is Alyx if even her Flock Leader does not know? Our media coverage continues on the 23rd Jan at Book Briefs where we interview the friends that Alyx has left behind.

Note: I have read about half of Angelfire, and got to say I love it. I really am hooked on it, it has that Mortal Instruments vibe to it, but is really very different, it has its own unique story, and i really am enjoying it alot. Hanna Peach is very talented. I will have a review up soon, a week maybe or sooner. I will collect up some great teasers for everyone too.

EXCERPT 1:
“This is going to sound crazy.” She presses her palm to her forehead.
He laughs softly. “Remember who you’re talking too.”
“Right,” she says. “I think it’s time I admitted some things to you. But you have to promise not to freak out or get angry before I finish, okay?”
“Okay.”
“Remember the last time we met, you asked me how I happened to come by the alley in time to save your life…”
“A lucky coincidence.”
“It wasn’t. I knew you would be there, I knew you were being attacked.”
Israel frowns. “How?”
Alyx takes a deep breath - no turning back now - and begins to tell him about her visions of him. Then to prove she isn’t lying she describes each one.
“Let me get this straight,” he says. “You see things through my eyes?”
“Essentially, yes. That’s how I knew where to find you then. And tonight.”
“Do you hear my thoughts as well?”
“Just whatever thoughts you have at the time.”
“That is...” his eyes blaze at her, “...so frickin’ cool.”
Her mouth parts as she sucks in air, realizing that she has been holding her breath. “You think so?”
“Think about it Alyx. You have been inside my body, felt my heart beating as if it were your own, felt how I feel, thought as I thought. You know what it’s like for me.” He leans forward as he speaks, grabbing her hands. “You don’t just know me, you know me.”
Alyx swallows, hard. His eyes have a way of making her feel like she is underdressed. Alyx wonders for a moment whether he can see inside her as she does him.

EXCERPT 2:
“I am looking to trade.” Alyx holds up a handful of pouches, all full of gold.
The RaceKeeper makes a noise under his breath. “And what might I have that you would be interested in? You aren’t looking to trade for the little Sparrow again are you?”
“I want information.”
“What kind of information?”
“I know you have Rogues in this crowd.”
He makes a non-committal noise.
“Which means you must have access to their community. I want to know,” Alyx pauses, taking a breath, “I want to know where my parents are.”
“Your parents? I see. But why are you so interested now, Bullet?”
“That is none of your business.”
“Hmmm.” The RaceKeeper takes a long languid puff from his pipe and blows smoke rings towards her face. She grits her teeth and instructs herself not to react. She needs his information. “You have discovered the truth about them have you?”
Her world stops. He knows too. Has he known all along? Does everyone know but her?
“You know about them?”
“My dear, I never accept competitors for my races without a full investigation into their past. You do have some interesting demons in your closet don’t you? Poor Symon must have a rough time keeping you under control.”
Alyx clenches her fists. What else does he know about her?
“I will pay you for what you know.” Alyx throws the pouches at the RaceKeeper’s feet.
The RaceKeeper pokes them with his pipe. He picks one up with his chubby fingers, shakes it, opens it and pulls out a coin. He lifts the coin to his face and it disappears in the blackness. Then he pulls it back out to study it.
There is now a small mark on the coin. He has bitten it, checking that they are pure gold. Pure gold is so soft that teeth can dent it.
“You don’t trust me RaceKeeper?”
“Just business my dear. Don’t take it personally.”
He pulls out another coin, bites, studies, and pulls out another. He does this with all of the coins.
Finally he puts down the last pouch. “Is this all your parents are worth?”
Alyx struggles to hold down the bile that rises in her throat. She pushes her fist into her jacket pocket and pulls out her last four pouches. She throws them on the pile at his feet. All of her savings.
“Holding out on me I see?” The RaceKeeper laughs. “I accept your offer.” He takes another toke of his pipe. “Now, I have good news and I have bad news for you. Which one do you want to hear first? I recommend the good news.”
He is enjoying this. Alyx wants to kick him in his flabby gut, which is spilling out over his purple drawstring pants, but she restrains herself.
“The bad news.”

EXCERPT 3:
A slow crawling smile is stretching across Michael’s cold carved face. The smile chills Mayrekk more than the hate in his eyes.
“Are you going to disappoint me Mayrekk?”
“I hope not Elder.”
“Good. Tell me... where has she gone?”
“She?”
“Alyxandria.”
“Is Alyx missin’?”
“Don’t play games with me.”
“Honestly Elder, I don’t know where Alyx is.”
Michael considers Mayrekk for one long excruciating moment. Michael takes one precise step towards him.
“We have something in common you and I.” With a flick of a wrist Michael now holds a kris in his right hand.
“Elder?”
“I also fancy myself a kind of scientist.” Michael waves the kris to indicate the devices about the room. “Oh yes, a scientist.” Michael brings the kris up in front of him and fingers the point with his other hand. “Did you know that the average adult human body holds around five liters of blood?”
Mayrekk shakes his head and shuffles back as Michael continues his languid approach towards him.
“This means that we also hold five liters of blood in our bodies.”
“Interestin’ fact that.” Mayrekk knows his voice is shaking. But he has to stay strong. Everything depends on him staying strong. Stay strong. For her.
“Do you know,” Michael says, stroking the gleaming blade of his kris with one finger, “how much blood you would have to lose before you died, Mayrekk?”
“No, Elder.”
“Of course your body goes through many painful stages before death from blood loss.”
Mayrekk swallows hard as he hits the bench behind him. Nowhere left to go.
“We are lucky aren’t we Mayrekk.” Michael takes another step, the gap between then closing.
“Sir?”
“We are lucky in that we, unlike mortals, heal very quickly from most wounds.”
“Lucky that.”
“So for someone, like you for example,” Michael smiles, “to sustain such a significant blood loss you would have to be cut many, many times, wouldn’t you say?”
“Aye.” Mayrekk’s voice quivers. But he will not break down. He can’t break down. Everything depends on this.
“Mark my words Mayrekk, before I am through with you, you will tell me what you know.”
Michael closes the gap between them.
