My Review

I really enjoyed this Urban Fantasy book! It has a great mix of the Magickals world crossing into our world, and the changes that can happen. I will admit I had my confused areas, but that does happen with me and fantasy books.

We have a mix of the Fae and Mythology and even some from the Aruthian Legends, so it was interesting for sure. We have some witty comments that relate to many things today that I liked and found funny at times. Overall the book is very interesting.

It does start off with a shocker; I mean the first few paragraphs is Quinn losing her virginity, and being betrayed. I am not really spoiling anything, as it happens right away. Then everything spirals out of control.

I found I didn’t really like Quinn a lot in the beginning. She did grow on me as the story went on. At first it just seemed she got over the trauma of her first time in the first chapter, and was ready to lust and move on to another guy, then from him to Arik, (first the traumatic one, then Devlin, then Arik) Though we don’t get sex again right away but she sure is ready to go there. Just that part bugged me a bit, there is no way a girl will get over something like that within days and lust after 2 other virtual strangers (I understand we have a magical connections on those, but still just didn’t go over well for me on that part)

But overall this is a great book, the relationship Quinn has with her brother Ian is special, and I really liked that. I found the relationship that develops with Quinn and Arik sweet and it sat well with me, if a bit fast I still liked the idea of them together.

Wow, that cliffhanger and shocker at the end was something. Now I am anxious for book two, but see nowhere when it will be out, so it’s a bummer it may be a big wait. I sure hope not! I need to see what happens, I will say it again, I absolutely Hate cliffhangers that leave us hanging in the middle of some major development or scenes. Just hate it.

Anyway, even though there is that hated cliffhanger, I still highly recommend this book. If you like fantasy books, or paranormal romances, then you will like this for sure.

5 out of 5 stars for me.

I received a copy of this book from the author for my honest review.

Excerpt ~ Part of Chapter One

Chapter One
Virgin Territory
Gentle fingertips grazed the edge of her jaw, trailing down her neck to her collarbone. His citrine gaze stared deeply into her eyes, and her body heated at his tender touch.
"You're okay, yeah?" Thaene asked, his voice hoarse from their lovemaking.
Am I okay? She hardly knew. Though she had nothing to compare it to, this feeling was more than giving her virginity to him. Quinn felt like something bigger inside stirred to life, wanting to escape.
"You know I love you. I'm sorry if it hurt." He kissed her again, his lips caressing hers as if he could take the ache away. "Say something, Quinn. Please."
"I love you, Thaene." She pressed herself into him, passionately returning his affection. As their kiss continued, Quinn wondered if he wanted more. She also wondered if she had more to give.
"I want us together always. Do you want that, Quinn?" Thaene's eyes danced with a mixture of emotions—love, passion, possessiveness, and something else she couldn't name.
"We can have forever. You want that, don't you?" Thaene asked.
"Yes," Quinn answered breathlessly before realizing what she'd agreed to. She smiled, finding his need for her exciting. "Forever is a long time. But I could do it with you."
Thaene smiled back. Happiness lit his face. He looked like he'd just won a major prize—he looked triumphant.
"Being with you on your birthday was very special to me. You've given me such a precious gift."
"I love you. I can't imagine my first time with anyone else."
Besides, my gift of Sight showed you to me, over and over. How could I not give myself to you?

Her gift had shown her something else as well. Since she didn't understand it, Quinn ignored it. She'd followed her heart where Thaene was concerned. Not even her mother's dislike—or in spite of it— changed her mind. Following your heart always led you down the right path.
Thaene lightly brushed her hair from her face, then he rested his forehead on hers.

"There's something else I'd like you to give me. Will you do that? Give me what I desire the most?"
The longing in his voice made Quinn squirm underneath him. Right now, she'd give him anything.
"It's the most precious gift of all. One I'll cherish forever."
Oh my God. He wants to marry me.
"Yes," Quinn said, drawing in a breath. "I'll give you anything."
"Good." Thaene nuzzled her neck. "I want you to show me your Magyk."
"What?" Quinn blinked at him, wondering if she'd heard him right.
"If you want us to have forever, you must show me your Magyk."
The dead seriousness of his voice, and the unflinching look in his eyes, told Quinn Thaene wasn't joking.
"Magic? I don't understand. I have no magic." She had the Sight, of course, but she'd never told him about that. Ever.
"This isn't a joke, Princess. Forever can be ours if you show it to me."
"Thaene. Please. Stop this."
Dread crawled up her spine, and she shivered. Something terrible had just happened between them—a shift of horrific proportions. Suddenly, in his house, and in his bed, she felt like a cruel trick had been perpetrated on her.
Rays of moonlight flooded in through the window, highlighting his now vicious, black eyes. Quinn gasped and tried to move away from him, but he'd trapped her underneath him. The candles flickered, then flared in the bedroom as Thaene's seductively sweet voice—the same one that had professed his love for her—turn cold-blooded and sadistic.

"Taking your virginity on your birthday was the only way. We're running out of time. Show. It. To. Me!"
"Show you what?" Quinn croaked.

Quaking from fear, she blinked back her tears. Caught in a tangle of his red satin sheets, with the weight of her first lover bearing down on her, she felt a thousand times the fool for believing in this cold, calculating man. She felt even more stupid for ignoring what the Sight had shown her.
How can a tourmaline-blue gem morphing into a sapphire possibly foreshadow what Thaene’s doing?
Her perfect evening had devolved into a night of stark terror.

"From tonight, Quinn Sinclair, every time you close your eyes, every time a breeze caresses your skin, you will think about me, about us. You will crave my touch." Thaene's voice came out slowly and matter-of fact. Through hooded eyes, he stared down at her. Painfully, he squeezed her temples with his thumbs. "I will always be in here, inside your mind. You belong to me."
"Thaene. You're hurting me. Why are you doing this?"

Emotionally and mentally flayed, her old reality lay in shredded scraps around her as Quinn stared at the monster looming over her. Hot, stinging tears poured from her eyes at the loss of her Thaene, her fun-loving boy with Zac Efron good looks.

"Why?" she whimpered again. "I waited for you. I loved you."
"Where is it, Princess?" Thaene snarled, ignoring her questions and protestations. Cruel fingers grabbed her face, digging into the hollows of both cheeks. Sharp fingernails scored her skin, drawing blood.
"You're so lovely, Quinn. Every night I dreamed about being with you. Do you think I like hurting you? Do you think I want to cause you pain? Give me what I want. Don't make me be this way with you."
A curtain of brown hair fell over Thaene's face, hiding it. Quinn sighed, happy for any reprieve. She couldn’t take seeing his evilness reflected in his eyes.

"Please, Thaene. I don't understand," Quinn cried, struggling against his grip as his muscular body pressed her deeper into his mattress.
Stupid self-defense. It's useless.
All those hours her brother Iain spent drilling her on moves designed to keep her safe meant nothing in the face of Thaene's imposing energy.

"Show me now, you stupid bitch!" he commanded, his eyes large with rage. "You have no idea what's at stake. My survival and the future of my world depend on this."
"S-show y-you? What world?" Quinn stuttered.

The oppressive stench of burnt sugar and blood wafted off Thaene. It filled her nostrils, making her choke back the bile rising in her throat. In all the months they'd dated, he'd never smelled repulsive.
Though Thaene’s surfer-boy build appeared thin and tall, somehow he weighed a ton. The more he pressed into her, the more her legs numbed. Even if she freed herself, Quinn would fall flat on her face as soon as she stood.

Strong hands moved to her neck and squeezed, making breathing and speech nearly impossible. Finding what little voice remained, she choked out, "Thaene, I… I thought you cared about me. We made love."
They hadn't made love at all. Just the opposite.
"No, Princess. We fucked." Thaene voiced her thought as though he’d read her mind. "You should learn the difference." Then his intonation softened. "Of course I love you. I love everything that is mine."

He kissed her roughly, biting her lip. "Play nice, Princess. Show me your Magyk and this can all be over. We'll go to Moincata, free him, then be on our way. Forever, Princess. We will have eternity together."

Thane's words floored Quinn. More tears, this time sparked by her surprise, poured from her eyes. He'd lost his mind if he thought for one minute she'd stay with him. And why did he keep calling her princess? Magic? Besides her now borked gift, she didn't have any supernatural abilities. Thaene had seen every inch of her. How could she hide something from him? As terrifying and ironically laughable as this all was, nothing funny could come from a man who believed in magic and was willing to do her bodily harm in its pursuit.
Thaene began chanting in what Quinn recognized as Gaelic. All her life, her mother often spoke the ancient language, and Quinn understood a good amount. Tonight, for whatever reason, not one word registered in her brain as the melodic words poured from his mouth in fast succession. They flowed in and around Quinn. Never had she experienced such a strange sensation—a pulling and coaxing of something inside her.

The phrase the power of words now had a literal meaning to Quinn.
As Thaene continued, the sensation intensified, growing stronger. A buzzing of unknown energy pulsed within every cell, making her muscles twitch.

Just when Quinn thought she couldn't stand anything more, an explosive crash in the other room brought their attention to the doorway. Loud footsteps stomped down the hall, moving closer at a rapid rate.

haene abandoned his chant, and his body tensed for action. For an instant, her surroundings shimmered. Things that had appeared one way, briefly changed into something else.
Quinn squinted to stop the tricks her eyes played, as the truth of the room came into focus. The romantic and inviting room turned into a space littered with trash. The exquisite, down mattress turned soiled and threadbare.
"Fuck!" Thaene cursed, glaring at the doorway.
Whomever or whatever approached had immense power; it announced itself with waves of energy before the person came into view. A moment later, a tall, broad-shouldered man with dark auburn hair and purple-tanzanite eyes filled the threshold.
The mysterious newcomer held a large sword in his right hand—at least five feet long—which glowed with the brightest colors she'd ever seen. The hues danced around the blade, making the sword seem alive with power. Its unearthly light cast a strange glow on his features, equally as malevolent as Thaene’s. Why he’d dressed in clothes fit for a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Quinn couldn’t fathom.

"Get off her!" the man said in a rich, baritone voice. "My daughter is not part of this."
"Daughter?" Quinn asked, her mouth agape. "You’re not my father. My father is dead. Paul's my father." As she stared at the man, something about him did seem familiar. But, father? No way; not possible.
"Big picture still muddy, isn't it? Yes, Quinn. This is your father, High King Finn Bheara of Flaitheas DraĆochta, the Magykal Realm." Thaene turned to the man and growled. "And she is very much a part of this. She is mine."

EXCERPT
It hurt. God, it hurt so bad.

And why were they pushing on it so hard? Touching her. Jericho and Dahlia’s hands were weapons themselves, adding to her agony as they applied pressure to the gaping wound marring Grace’s gut.
She tried to tell them to stop, was sure that she had, but she only tasted blood on her tongue.

That thing—the most beautiful, terrifying being she had ever seen—had…killed her. She was dying.

And maybe that was okay. She was so tired of being afraid. Of looking for someone to hurt her around every corner. She wasn’t afraid right now, and it was the first time that’d happened in years. It almost made the pain worth it.

Almost.

Cold. Her teeth started to chatter. With a rush of relief she realized she could no longer feel their hands upon her. Her body was going blessedly numb.

But it was so cold.

Dahlia scooped her up into her arms and cradled her against her chest, rubbing her hands up and down Grace’s arms. “Shh,” she said. “It’ll be over soon, Red. Shh….”

Grace was still conscious enough to struggle, but when her efforts were unsuccessful, she realized her numb body did not react to Dahlia’s touch as it always reacted to human contact. Without the ability to feel the pain of Dahlia’s touch, Grace was shocked to discover that the other woman’s embrace was…pleasant. It was the first time someone had put their arms around her in—she couldn’t remember. A sudden, intense desire to live roared through her, and Grace tried to fight, to say something. But instead of a sound, her efforts brought another rush of blood.

The strength left her limbs, and she sagged into Dahlia’s lap. Black began to edge in on her vision, so Grace closed her eyes to prevent watching it.

Dahlia tucked Grace’s head into the curve of her neck and began to hum something soft and sweet. Grace smelled cinnamon. She relaxed. If she had to go—

As her senses dimmed, she heard a scuffle.

“Get away from her!” Jericho yelled. “Let her go in peace, for God’s sake.”

“She needs this,” said a voice Grace had only heard twice but immediately recognized as his. “Now! Right now—”

A heavy silence met his insistence, and Grace wondered for a second if she had slipped away into death, but then she felt slices of renewed pain that must mean Dahlia was laying her down again.

The fear that had abandoned her for a few blessed moments rushed back in. What were they doing? She had no way of knowing.

“Quickly,” she heard him say again, desperation dripping from his voice in a near moan.

Another rustle, and then the sweetest scent she’d ever encountered. A mix of peach and sun-warmed earth and sky. She tried to hum in approval, but cut off when she felt a curious sensation where the sword had sliced through her. It started off as a trickling tickle, but soon grew uncomfortably warm. It launched throughout her entire body, causing her back to bow.

She opened her mouth, and her scream rent the air. No flow of blood accompanied it this time, she realized dimly, as her limbs flinched and jerked on their own.

All pain disappeared and in its place was ecstasy. Pleasure like nothing she had ever felt warmed her to the tips of her fingers and toes. She moaned loudly as she turned to her side and curled in on herself. Her hands encountered the torn fabric of her blouse and jacket, but then felt smooth skin where moments ago had been carnage. The pleasure faded, and her fingers tentatively explored her abdomen.

The wound was…gone.

She opened her eyes to a world that was a blur. Colors blended with colors, shapes with shapes. Her fingers rose trembling to her eyes and bumped against her glasses. On instinct she whipped them away, and the world fell into immediate focus. She saw her surroundings with a clarity she had never known before; a clarity she instinctually knew was greater than human capability.

She was lying in a pool of her own blood, its vivid red color causing her to jerk upright. She looked around slowly. Jericho and Dahlia peered at her with cautious hope. “What—?” Grace’s hoarse voice gave out.

A harsh noise behind her caught her attention. “You’re alive,” he said on an exhalation of breath.

She jerked around, her eyes finding him immediately.

He stood close—too close—and his eyes roved over her in a way that could only be described as proprietary. He was gorgeous. He had the beautiful dusky coloring of the exotic Middle East: mouthwatering dark skin, warm black hair that cascaded in waves around his shoulders. She craned her neck back to take in his stature. He was huge—tall and broad—but instead of being terrified, she reveled in his height and the wings that spread behind him and glimmered in the glow of the emergency lights. She sucked in a breath as she glanced over the wide expanse of his chest and down the flowing white robe that covered his body. Her gaze traveled back to his face and was snared by lush, full lashes framing light, honeyed-green eyes.

“Angel…” she heard herself mutter.

And then the world tilted violently as a soft, strong Voice whispered inside her mind: He’s yours. The One.

Hannah Pole
I am a born and bred wild child. (Or I like to think so anyway!)

I moved to sunny Folkestone UK to escape and find my feet as, well whatever I was destined to be! But alas, my short attention span made finding that destiny a little difficult! One day I came across a diary entry that made me laugh so hard; I actually fell off my chair. (Yes, this can happen!)

I decided that the entry was so funny; it needed to be shared with the world! So I started writing, and attempted to turn it into a novel. Though to this day, that novel remains unfinished, it will always be the novel that got me started, and showed me what I was passionate about.

Honestly? I have aspired to be everything from a Private Investigator to a Zoo Keeper with my career; my interests change so quickly that I could never stick with one! Writing gives me the freedom to choose; I can be a cold-hearted assassin in love with a poet one day and the secret lesbian lover of a politician the next!

All my life, I have had a strong, unwavering passion for anything supernatural, spiritual and slightly unexplainable, I love the idea that there can be something completely fantastical lurking beneath the confines of normality. So of course, mythical creatures of all shapes and sizes dominate most of my work!

In a nutshell, I am a creative crazy bean, living with my lovely husband and a house full of too many animals! I've always secretly wished I were a werewolf of some description, but have come to realise that I will have to settle for writing about them instead! I'm happiest in the sun with my head in a good book!

All I can say from here is I hope youth like what you read!

My Review for Silence of the Wolves

I loved this book!! It was such a page turner (well my virtual pages on my kindle, lol)

I was so into this book, had non-stop excitement and action, and wow some nice steamy part too. It was awesome.

The writing was top notch too, I had a few disturbing dreams about the undead creatures in this book. Think the Walking Dead, but with evil intelligence controlling them, and the creepiness of them is yuck, lol.

I loved Leyth so much, what a great guy, and Tamriel was a strong kick ass lead female for sure. She finds out about being a wolf too, and took it pretty well, as she always knew something was different about her. She is more than just that, and it was a great twist in the story. I am not gonna tell you, lol, you will need to read it to find out. I do not want to spoil the fun.

I highly recommend this book, if you like the paranormal books, like with shifters, werewolves, and more then this is for you.

5 out of 5 huge stars for me.

I received this book from the author for my honest review. I was invited to download at Netgalley so its also there.

This review is also posted at Amazon, here, and Goodreads Here. As well as other places like Shelfari here.

Excerpt from Leyth’s Point of View

He slowly slid his nearly invisible form back against the wall, deeper into the shadows, and held his breath as he watched her scan the area again.

Sure as hell, she knew someone was there, knew he was watching her. She crouched down and checked underneath the cars, behind the trees, and through the windows of surrounding houses before, slowly, jogging towards her building. Christ, that was close.

‘Get off me!’ Leyth’s keen hearing picked the sound with ease, though it was coming from almost a mile away. In a past life he might have gone to investigate; it was clearly a ‘damsel in distress’ and the alpha inside him bringing the other half of his soul roaring to the surface. But these days, that half was suppressed by the will of the council, constrained by duties and laws. Besides, he had other things to deal with.

Glancing at Tamriel, he noted that her pace had slowed almost to a stop and she was listening closely. As she broke into a sprint, he realised that she’d also heard the female in distress, and was going to her aid. Running flat-out to keep up with her, he followed her through the streets of Folkestone, baffled by how keen her senses were, marvelling at how accurately she followed her ears.

Finally, they reached a quiet road, off which there was an alleyway that led behind a large block of flats. The metallic scent of blood rode the air, stirring the beast at his core. Blood lust roared its way to the surface, making his mouth water. He thrust it back down, telling his instincts to put a muzzle on it. Now was notthe time!

He watched as Tam crept through the alleyway, slowly reaching the walled entrance to the small square of space between the two buildings. She paused, again listening intently.

Crap, where did she get that knife from?

His confusion took a back seat as she launched herself from the space she was crouched in, landing a kick on the man who was stood in the shadows of the buildings surrounding them. The force of it sent him smashing into a wall, cracking his leg as he went; Leyth heard the bone fracture as it hit the brick. Glancing over at the guy, he noted the faint scent of death that prickled his nose. It was a tuhrned.
Cursing himself for not noticing the Circle’s minion, and his bad luck for the situation he’d landed in, Leyth shifted position, ready to kick the crap out of the zombiefied traitor but, as he did, Tamriel caught his attention.

Fragile as she seemed, she was a picture of strength, ready for combat. As the guy launched at her, she dodged his blows with grace, only getting hit a couple of times and, when the tide turned, she attacked with deadly precision, catching him in all the right places. She definitely had her father’s blood in her veins.
Finishing him off with an elbow to the back of the neck, the pale bastard fell to the floor in a heap. He wouldn’t stay that way though, tombs just didn’t stop; their corpse-like bodies could keep on going even after death.

Pulling himself back to reality, Leyth considered doing Tamriel a favour and cutting the tomb’s head off, but since she had handled things well so far, Leyth decided to leave her to it; to see if she could look after herself alone.

Best to stand back and see how this played out anyway. Maker only knew, he didn’t want her to find out he’d been following her. Yet.
Praying her senses were still on alert, he watched her pull out her phone and call someone; he stepped back as the tomb got to its feet. The bastard didn’t even give her time to breathe as it kicked the phone from her hand and slammed her against the wall, crushing her throat. It was going to kill her.

Moving swiftly forward, he was careful to stay in the shadows behind the tuhrned, keeping out of its line of sight, they would know he was there otherwise. He pulled on the bomber jacket the tomb was wearing, tugging it just hard enough for its grip to loosen, to give her a chance to grab at some air.

She lashed out with her foot, cracking the tomb twice in the knee until bone cracked and shattered, sending the thing down to the ground.

Leyth couldn’t help but grin; this female. She was as strong as her father had been; she was truly a picture of strength, through and through. And didn’t that just make it all the harder to do what he had to do?

Goddamn, he had to take her. He had no choice but to snatch her out of the life she’d made for herself and turn it upside down. He was going to ruin her world and there was not a damn thing he could do about it.

Then he felt his stomach drop as he watched Tamriel collapse to the floor in a heap. Pulling his bolo out of his leg sheath, Leyth didn’t cast a second glance at the tuhrned, just swung the knife and cut its head clean off.

As the tomb hit the dirt, Leyth touched the radio he wore clipped to his jacket.

‘I need a clean-up team in the alley behind the Marlowe flats on the Leas,’ he barked. ‘One dead tuhrned and one injured. Get here ASAP.’

‘Roger that, ETA two minutes.’ Carl’s gruff voice came back at him.
For once, Leyth was glad to hear that raspy American baritone.

‘Cool, I’ve got to shoot, my man. Got something to deal with.’ Leyth quickly checked the pulse of the blonde pup; slow but steady, she would be fine.

Hauling the now-unconscious Tamriel over his shoulder, he cursed. The heat bleeding out of her pores was burning his skin as it made contact with hers.

Leyth called to the other half of his soul, the power at his very core, which happily came roaring to the surface, filling his veins with adrenaline and making his heart race. He would need the speed of the wild to get her back to mansion’s clinic in time.

He raced back to his car, fear giving his feet wings, and sped the ten miles to the reserve in almost as many minutes. This female could not die on him.

Not now. Not ever.

My thoughts on the cover.

I have to say, its not my favorite, I guess this cover the model for Daemon, does not even look like him at all, its been messed with too much I think. I like the background  and how he is alone, as I feel its going to fit the book, if you read Opal you know why. I guess I can hope that this cover (the model at least) wont be used on many other book covers like the other books covers, like Opal, the exact models and poses I seen on at least 2 other books. also some from the other ones as well. Too bad when the photos are done, they can't be only one time use for a cover, so not to have so many copy cats out there.

Just my opinion, but same models and poses for multiple covers really annoy me. Hope it wont happen with this one. But since the model, Pepe Toth has been changed so much, maybe that will not happen.

Overall a great cover.

Here is the others in the series.

Book Description:

Take what you know about mythology and throw it out the window....

Do you have any idea what Zeus, Odin, Pandora's Box, Atlantis, Machu Picchu, Hera, Nike, Dragons, Vlad, Clones, and Vampires have in common? Athine does!

Athine is not your ordinary immortal born goddess. Learn of her mysterious origins, learn why Zeus hates her so much, find out where vampires come from, and learn what really happened to the dragons.

The Daughter of Ares Chronicles follows Athine as she uncovers the secrets of her destiny while interacting with key figures from many mythologies.

This printed version contains novellas one through four in one complete edition.

Short Excerpt:
“Athine, hold the sword in one hand and cast a spell with the other!”  My mother, Raelin, was always barking orders.  It was always practice and then practice some more.  Didn’t she know how bored I was?  I had been practicing for eons to protect a land that was at peace.  I could cast magic with my eyes closed and my fighting skills were second nature to me.  Why did I need to practice so much if my skills were already honed?
“Mother, this is useless.  No one has attacked Olympus, Draosia, or Ximira for several centuries.  Why must I keep practicing to be a protector of the lands with these poorly made weapons?  They break when I use them.  How can I possibly fight with this stick?”
“Athine, you are a goddess of war born from three different bloodlines.  You must to live up to your legacy.  That is why you have to keep practicing.  I do not know why the weapons keep breaking.  Maybe if you focused more on using your Sh’cersay and less on your poor attitude the weapons would perform better.”
Ah yes, my ever present poor attitude.  Perhaps it was borne out of sheer boredom.  I had no desire to be a warrior protector.  That was supposed to be my mother’s job.  Yet, she kept trying to make it mine. Something about a vision or prophecy; I never really paid attention.
“Athine, stop day dreaming.  Andraste and Sabrina will be here tomorrow for your A’samrad.  Do you want to embarrass your grandmother by not completing the rite of passage?   As a potential ruler of Ximira and maybe even Olympus you are expected to do well.  Anything less would be an embarrassment to the bloodlines; all three of them.”
“Embarrassment?  Potential ruler?  Has anyone asked me if I cared lately?  I practice day in and day out just for the possibility that I may be ruler of a humdrum, peaceful country.  Maybe if I did fail the A’samrad you all would let me be.  I have no desire to be a ruler.   I do not care that my entire family is of noble immortals that love to rule.  I want to see other worlds.  I want to live a life of adventure.”
How much clearer could I get?  I had no desire to rule any of these lands, yet they all hoped I would rule one day.  Any of my other siblings, cousins, aunts, or uncles would love to play this role.  I was meant for so much more, but alas no, becoming a “ruler” keeps being dumped on my lap.  I secretly wished I could fail the A’samrad and become an embarrassment.  That way I could go off on an adventure and discover what lay beyond the walls of our palace.  I knew there were harsher worlds out there ready for me to conquer.  I just had to get out of this world to find them.

My Review

I enjoyed this fantasy book a lot, although I had a hard time getting into it in the beginning, a little too many characters were explained and felt more like history lessons, but I forced through it (not being able to keep track of so many strange names) and it picked up really well from there.

This book has lots of the greek mythology type stuff in it that I found very interesting.

The story is mainly about Athine, who we do not even see until after 20% as its telling of her parents to see how we get to her.
Athine is supposed to save them all. ( I won’t go into detail of all the books, that are in this one book now, so not to spoil anything)

Harmonia is the prophetess that brought her mother to Olympus as her visions said it was how to save them. But not knowing it would not be her mother, but her, Athine instead, so she had trained her whole life for it, not knowing for what or even when.

It’s interesting, and if you like books with the Greek mythology, I think you would like this one, and the rest of the series that is now in this one book. Once your past the major lineage of characters, you will enjoy if you like fantasy books.

I give it 5 out of 5 stars, I originally gave 4 out of 5 for just the first book, only because I did have a hard time in the beginning, like too much info and people to fast. But once you get past all that, and into the rest of the books, it flows nicely and I really liked them.

I do recommend this book, give it a try.

I was provided this book for my honest review
